Herseth-Sandlin’s hair is covering her ears…is this a trick question?
Say what you will, but Johnson and Herseth-Sandlin still vote along Democratic lines more often than not, so I wouldn’t go so far as to call them Republicans. Whether I agree or disagree with their votes, at least I do admire the willingness to cross party lines from time to time.
I just wish more of our elected officials would be so quick to distance themselves from their political party from time to time instead of just following the lemmings off the cliff as is so common.
The organized parties just need to go away. Nobody really fits them perfectly.
Then there’d be less of the knee-jerk partisan reactions to bills that get proposed.
I agree, but humans have this need to define themselves by the company they keep, and therefore the forming of groups, and the eventual dislike of other groups, is inevitable.
Have you ever seen Jane Elliot’s “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” experiment? Granted that was with children, but it says a lot about human behavior. We find such grouping behavior in all stages of life and I suspect it would be an impossibility to prevent it.
Even if you banned political parties, you would still have unofficial groups who define agendas and work towards common goals.

I would admire that too, if they were voting for good ideas, but since most of the Republican’s agenda is corporate welfare, I do not admire them for it.

Yes. It’s truly sad to think we humans are that stupid at a base level.
Bottom right but it’s a bad picture of Obama.
Should have asked which of them is not a corporatist tool.
The congress and their staffer members should be required to wear Nascar-like uniforms with logos in proportionate size to their “sponsorships”.
LOL PG

That is quite possibly the best idea about what to do with congress I’ve seen in a long time.
L3wis, take note. This is also a great toon idea.
A nationally syndicated cartoonist already did a toon like that. I think Matt Weurker did it. It was pretty funny.
