Sen. Jim Bunning continues to object to extending unemployment benefits. On Monday, the Kentucky Republican once again prevented a vote on a bill that would extend eligibility for enhanced unemployment benefits and subsidized health insurance for laid-off workers by 30 days.
If Congress fails to pass an extension, the National Employment Law Project estimates that 1.2 million people will lose their benefits in March. Bunning’s action could cause thousands of people to miss their unemployment checks starting this week, though it’s likely that Congress will pass an extension within the next two weeks that will retroactively cover their losses.
The video of him telling the reporter to get off his elevator is comical (see above). His baseball career below.

This is deja vu all over again, Bunning is trying to go for a Full 1995 Newt. That would be shutting down the whole government because he has his cup in a wad. He gave the birdie signal today, I believe he is signaling his next pitch….up yours America.
It’s ok, the media says the economy is getting better!
While I’m not a Sen Bunning fan, I understand what he’s doing.
Cut the funds from the Iraq or Afghanistan wars or from NASA and move on. We cannot continue to charging up our debt.
Bunning just balked. Looks like he didn’t want to do an all nighter on the floor of the senate so he has agreed to let a vote come to the floor. Or maybe his repubulcan’t buddies didn’t want to spend all night on the senate floor and they finally changed his mind for him.
If Bunning wanted PayGo why did he vote no on PayGo some months ago? Where was he the last 8 years when George spent money like water and gave tax breaks to all the rich people?
I believe Bunning was just being a prick.
He is an enormous prick. Did you watch the baseball video?
Yes, the baseball video was great. I wish Rachel would have played it on her show.
The senate voted 30 minutes ago and passed the bill to extend unemployment funds. Not to disappoint Thune and Bunning voted NO.
78-19 19 republican’ts voted no. Too bad they aren’t unemployed. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00032
