Councilor Entenman’s hearing will be today at 2 PM (updated) at the old council chambers at City Hall (KELO will be covering it live on there website). It will be a public hearing because Jim waved confidentiality. Which is great, but also allows for a circus act. I have noticed that our local MSM has said nothing in advance of the hearing, or the notice of it, and if I am wrong, please point me in the right direction.

My prediction; Jim will be found to have no conflict of interest. I do think he will be reprimanded though for keeping his name on the liquor license list for as long as he did. If Jim is found to have a conflict of interest, he may resign from the council. I don’t think he realized the magnifying glass he would be put under after becoming a councilor, and I don’t think he likes it.

There is one good thing about Entenman resigning, it is an at large seat and there could be a special election for that appointment. Council chairman Jamison has mentioned to me that there should be a special election when an at large councilor resigns. I agree.

Maybe I will throw my hat in the ring? Of course that is just speculation . . . I mean . . . that Entenman will resign.

  1. If you run, can I be your campaign manager? I have some great ideas for slogans.. and I speel check.

  2. Sure. But we should probably wait until he resigns before we have our first ‘official’ meeting. Wink. Nod. Wink.

Now, go to fuck to sleep.

  3. I’m not an Enteman fan at all, but I’m a bit troubled by the BID complaint against him. Is this just a way to eliminate a vote for the Arena location? If he was in favor of a downtown EC, would this circus even be happening? I know the benevolent leaders of that group will loudly cry against me even considering they’d have any ulterior motives, but oh well.

  4. For city dictatorship, councilors have no power. They can stand up and make a point but the mayor has absolute authority. It’s a mistake running for the council. You get lots of attention and some respect but you can be readilly wasted (via ethics complaint) from either the mayor’s or citizen’s side.

  5. Unless – of course – you simply don’t engage in any behavior that could possibly be construed as even borderline unethical.

  6. BID are like a bunch of angry Muslims…insult them and they will kill you. Jim is pro-arena site so they have decided he must go regardless of what tactics they have to use to bring him down

  7. I think it is interesting that a guy who has a monopoly on a NEW American product in SF and a guy who is a political strategist are locking horns is interesting. I would write a book about it if I cud spel.

  8. The real winners in the Arena neighborhood will be the Dairy Dream and that little place that sells used tires. The big spending out of town crowds from the events center events will be thrilled.

  9. Rosie’s will be pounding out profits hand over fist.

Gotta hand it to them, they do a nice job.

  10. If you run, I’ll tell my SF friends. I no longer live in Sioux Falls, but I have learned tons about SF government from you.

  11. I don’t own a crappy American bike dealership, will they still vote for me?
