And really that is what the firing was probably about;

It’s possible the job description might be changed so that the new clerk is more of an administrator versus somebody who engages on policy matters.

I am still baffled why they had a problem with someone who COULD give legal advice (a differing opinion then the city attorney’s office which has to be in line with the mayor’s agenda, this was all too clear when the ethics complaint got thrown out). And someone who brought incredible transparency to the city council’s operations. Now they just want an administrator? Why not save the taxpayer’s money and get a temp to do the job for $10 an hour? Pathetic. I salivate for the day it is made public why she was fired. You will see just how ignorant and naive the five councilors who voted for her dismissal are. I also think it should be made public before they hire another clerk.

5 Thoughts on “Seems the SF City Council felt former city clerk Debra Owen had too much power

I can’t stop laughing. LMAO! Care to offer a retraction? LMAO!

  2. Two of the Council’s major functions are public policy and appropriating funds.

Why would the Council NOT want someone who is an expert in public policy to lead them!!??

Especially since we have a Council that consists of:

two marketing guys (Brown and Jamison)

one guy who owns a motorcycle shop (Enteman)

two insurance guys (Karsky and Rolfing)

    one newsletter publisher (Erpenbach)

one past school board member from many years ago (Aguilar)

    Anderson Jr. ??

WHAT DOES ANY OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH PUBLIC POLICY EXPERTISE???

AND, this is their tenure on the Council:

    one with nine months

    four with 19 months

    two with almost four years

and, one with almost eight years.

I was at the Council work session yesterday. I could not believe that they decided on Michelle Erpenbach as the Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee that will do the “heavy lifting” on a new job description for our City Clerk. She is the very person who had the biggest role in engineering Debra Owen’s demise.

“Anderson, Jr ??” LMAO. I hear he wants to run for Mayor. His salary would increase like 100%.

  4. DAMMIT CORN! You weren’t supposed to find that post! 🙂 My first impressions were wrong, though I do think Tex Golfing’s heart was in it at first, he found out getting paid a couple of 100 bucks a week to put up with the public wasn’t so much fun.

  5. Alice. 100% more like 600%! Sorry Kenny.
