I have a feeling our State Legislators (several who own casinos, bars and restaurants) will never pass a smoking ban. I think it is up to the voters of the state to once again tell the yahoos in Pierre you are not listening to us and we will step up to the plate and get it done. A majority of people in SD do NOT smoke, it only makes sense to ban smoking in the hospitality industry. I believe they will see an increase in business, not the other way around. Do the math!
Great cartoon. The type of cartoon that should be featured in the Argus. It would be nice if I could express this opinion without the accusation of being a “suck up.” Unfortunately, people will accuse me of being a toady.
. . . not to mention you don’t want to make the mortician’s mad, they might botch your funeral arrangements.
I understand that the Tobacco Free Network’s next legislation strategy will be focused on the clean air environment health of workers in restaurants and bars – I also wonder about pregnant women who work there (and customers) who 1) don’t know they are pregnant yet, 2) do know that they are pregnant and continue to work, and 3) that it is still the false belief that working in a non-smoking section keeps the unborn baby from ill-effects of second-hand poison – I mena – smoke. Hope that is stressed in this unbelievable “war for clean air” – (can’t a smoker just smoke outside every 3 minutes if they need to or order take out?) – great toon!!!
What I don’t understand is how can you smoke and eat at the same time?!
