  1. YOU, my Friend (and Tim)- are the ones who “nails it” – but thank you for putting my letter/link on your very cool site! I AM HONORED! I have never had so many phone calls (even Theresa S. called me) and emails of praise about one of my letters before (I didn’t realize that many folks read the AL – ha, ha) – I just got ticked off when the AL did not acknowledge we citizens or give any credit at all where it is due, and if you go back and re-read the original editorial, it just “overly praises” this group of “talented” folks and never mentions that it took 2 years for this group to get it right (due to the public sentiment and voting getting in the way, no doubt) – maybe they should have REALLY put effor into asking the public years ago about an events center instead of having a few little input sessions adn presentations based on the original committee’s “research” (owner of Skyforce, downtown lovers, etc.) – now I almost regret my endorsement of the events center in that “neighborhood” as I should have remembered to have tempered my endorsement with concern for the neighbors in the arena area – for THEY are the ones who should also be a part of this project – THEY shoud be on a committee! Wouldn’t that be the way to do things right? I work at the arena part-time – and as I walked around last night witnessing the state volleyball play (which is wicked fun by the way) – I now believe it would be frugal and best to remodel the arena if it can be done -revamping it, maybe even knocking it down and building it at that site – thus, leaving Howard Field alone – couldn’t it just be built bigger on the spot – higher up with a parking ramp close by to handle the extra parking? – Don’t ya hate when people just ask too many questions? – Russ
