  1. That is a very clever cartoon. Of course, Rounds actually DID follow all of the airplane rules – something even the Argus Leader conceded if you read far enough into the story. That is why they pushed the change in the rules.

  2. Technically. He paid the fuel bill ‘AFTER’ he knew he was going to be caught. And he paid it out of the Governor’s fund, not his own pocket. so in my eyes he still broke the rules.

  3. That is not true. He paid all those bills as he used the planes – he followed the same procedures that had been used for thirty years. The statement that he only paid them “after he knew he was going to get caught” is just untrue, and even the Argus Leader story conceded that.

As to paying with the “governor’s fund,” I assume you are referring to using the Governor’s Club or his campaign funds to pay the bill. So what? That is what those funds are for – to allow the governor to pay for expenses that the state should not or will not pay.

“In my eyes he still broke the rules.” Good for you, but in the eyes of the law, he didn’t.

  4. So what you are saying is Me or You should be able to use the state airplanes for personal use as long as we pay the fuel bill? Technically we own them, why can’t I use them to fly my family all over the state?

The planes should be for state business only.
He is a governor, not a king.
