What’s the story behind this? Google does nothing.

Don owns a vineyard and a sign shop in Sioux Falls. I guess I have a ‘personal problem’ with someone holding office that makes alcohol for re-sale. I know he wouldn’t be the only one in SD with conflicts of interest, but I think this one is pretty obvious. If he were to give controlling stock over to his daughter who he is partners with, then it might not be so bad.

Have you ever had the wine? Probably the worst I have ever drank.

    Which vinyard?

The best wine made anywhere near here is Prarie Berry out in Hill City. Good stuff – especially Buffalo Berry and Wild Grape. Too bad the fruit isn’t always available.

I believe it is ‘Strawbale’ in rural Renner.

I guess I shouldn’t say the wine sucks, it is a sweet wine and obvious they are not using grapes/fruits from different regions like a lot of the other SD wineries do to make their wine taste better. I like full-bodied, dry, earthy, spicy reds, I HATE SWEET wine. Pinot Grigio or Sauvign Blanc is about as sweet as I will go in the white wines. When I first tasted it at the SE Empire Fair last year in the wine tasting tent I just about spit it out (trust me, I NEVER spit out alcohol). I told them it was really sweet and they claimed it was certain way of making wine (even the hoots make better wine-surprised they haven’t gotten into the business).

Looks like he’s trying to appeal to the Lutheren taste buds around here. Sweet is about the only flavor they can stomach.
I like dry, smokey, earthy wines myself. Guess that’s why I like scotch too.
