One of my better performances. De WAS not too happy with me accusing her of being fiscally irresponsible. I guess the truth hurts. And General Jamison loves to tax the poor.

I wish I could of taken a picture of the look I got from Jodi ‘internets’ Schwan as I was walking out of Carnegie. Ice, Ice, Baby. I don’t think I’ll be asking her out on a date anytime soon.

6 Thoughts on “No Tax Increase – The Beaurcrats lose for once

is an extra one cent per $12.50 really going to hurt anyone? I guess now they can hold off until inflation in the concrete, rebar, and asphalt industry goes up even more.
Oh, and Jodi totally wants you. Chicks dig a bad boy.

That wasn’t my issue with it. I had two problems with it.

    1) Why should we pay for roads in new developments when our current streets need fixing first. This council has neglected them and now they want us to ante up for their bad decisions. Cut certain unneeded CIP projects until we catch up on road repairs.

    2) Tax revenue has doubled in the past 10 years from the current 1.92%, so why do we need to increase it? Our city’s population has not doubled, nor our size. Seems we are overspending. I suggested we decrease it if anything.

I agree in part. I think the city needs to take a real look at the sprawl on the edges of town and decide if we want that to continue before developing the empty spaces in town. We have large pieces of land surrounded by the city that aren’t being touched.
The city needs to be very careful granting tax holidays to deelopers who are just paving over corn fields to build rows of beige split-levels and mini malls. That money needs to be concentrated in places that are already part of the city.
Plus, without the city’s footprint growing so fast, the roads will be easier to repair.

I’ve decided my next rant will be about suburban sprawl vs. sustainable development. Should be a fun one.
