I found her answer to this question interesting, considering her three opponents answered it honestly. So Deb, Anti-choice or Pro-choice?
8. Do you approve or disapprove of Initiated Measure 11, which would ban all abortions with exceptions for the mother’s life, rape or incest? My personal belief on Initiated Measure 11 doesn’t matter, as the initiated measure was put on the ballot by the citizens by collecting signatures. The South Dakota Constitution sets forth this process. This is no longer a legislative issue, and it is up to the people of South Dakota to make their decision. I will support and uphold the decision of not only my constituents in my district, but also the entire state.
Yes is does matter, because we all know that the Vote Yes on 11 people plan to strip the exceptions if they win in November, and they plan to do that with the help of the State legislature.
The exceptions only exist if you can afford a lawyer to argue your case for an abortion and file the correct paperwork. Hopefully, you can do this all in nine months or less too.
Such a stupid and futile measure shouldn’t even get on the ballot considering the real problems this state and country have right now.
The Unruhs have no shame. I heard recently that Allen attended one of his friends funerals and when it was Allen’s turn to go up and talk about his deceased friend, he instead encouraged people to volunteer for the campaign.
Would it be a far stretch of the imagination if he also explained that if his friend’s mother had had an abortion, his friend wouldn’t have been there, thus not giving Unruh the platform to desecrate a funeral?
It doesn’t seem that far a stretch.
Pretty Pathetic actually.
Deb Peters supported the 2006 ban, but sadly, I’ve often thought that deep down, she’s pro-choice. Chaulk it up to Republican complacency, I guess. For legislative purposes, unless DP suddenly grows a spine, she’s staying in the closet.
I was trying to be funny, I thought she was Pro-life, interesting perspective. What bothers me is the Gargoyle Leader didn’t press her on the question. The other candidates answered it.
Hey l3wis,
I believe it’s the VOTE YES camp that wants to pass Measure 11 and strip the exceptions in the legislature.
Thanks for the correction, that’s what I meant. I get so freaking confused.
Pro Choice = Pro convenience and pro … sure you have the choice to do whatever you want with your body but it would have really sucked if your spouse was aborted! Are you really ready to answer for your own actions or do you want to keep with your mind numbing rhetoric that glorifies a practice originated by the same party that glorified antisemitism and brought you the holocausts…
