Obama Hits a New High, Making Big Gains Among Women

Among the poll’s most dramatic findings: McCain is losing female voters faster than Sarah Palin attracted them after the Republican National Convention. Obama leads McCain by 17 points with women, 55%-38%. Before the conventions, women preferred Obama by a margin of 10 points, 49%-39%. After McCain picked Palin as his running mate, the gap narrowed to a virtual tie, with Obama holding a 1-point margin, 48%-47%.

Post of the Dead (ZW minus 24)

For me, zombies bring to mind the flesh eating monsters of modern horror, but the walking dead have terrified the living in superstition for centuries. Accounts of the living dead are most notable in Haitian Voodoo. This variety of zombie is the subject of the 1932 film White Zombie starring Bela Lugosi. Lugosi’s character, Murder Legendre (which might be the coolest name ever), uses voodoo to lure a woman away from her fiance, but his plan backfires and she ends up a mindless automaton. The entire thing is steeped in over acting, but I feel it makes this movie even more entertaining. Watch it with friends and drink every time Murder looks shifty eyed.

It should also be noted that Lugosi reportedly expressed regret for taking this part  for only $800, since it did quite well in theaters.

Scotty Hudson chastises the local TV media

I agree 100% with Scott on this one. I’m always baffled why the local media lets local politicians, convicted felons and whack jobs push them around?

Reminds me of an email exchange I had with a news director at KELO-TV recently. Inside KELOLAND which is produced once a week and airs twice on Sunday had a program a couple of weeks ago about the Sales Tax increase. The first half featured Munson, Brown and Staggers the second half featured two developers, but no citizens (you know the ones who are affected by the tax increase). I emailed the news director about it, and she told me that they featured Munson, Brown and Staggers instead because they are elected by the people and represent the citizens (insert laughter here). I had a pretty long rant I was going to send her about journalistic integrity, etc. etc. but instead I replied “Yes, Staggers did a fine job representing the citizens.”
