Bob calls it quits to politics?

Bob at Politics and Hypocrisy says he has had it with political blogging;

Well after over 2 years of blogging on politics I have come to the realization that my heart is no longer in it. I thought that writing about the hypocrisy displayed by our elected officials would somehow be therapeutic when in fact it had the opposite effect. Reading the hate, the lies, and the spin that both parties try to pass off as policy has finally turned me off to the process altogether.

Bob still has his other blog though – so that’s good. I have always enjoyed Bob’s writings.

This is too bad, but I do share his sentiment, sometimes. Which brings up a conversation I had with fellow contributor Johnny Roastbeef lastnight. After the November 4th election you will see some changes on SouthDaCola, some of it has already started with additions of music and art. You will see more pop culture on SouthDacola, but you will also get a good dose of politics and cartoons. If Obama becomes president, I guarantee I will have more cartoon ideas then I know what to do with, not to mention the South Dakota legislative session is coming up, always a great breeding ground of satire, just with what Gene Abdallah says alone.

So stay tuned – things are going to get funnier, I hope.

Humane Society endorses Obama

Could they found an uglier dog?

And Pastor(?) DooHickey over at VoicesCrazy is up in arms. First off, Stevie, the Humane society is an organization that helps animals – not people. It has nothing to do with Planned Parenthood or Abortion. Secondly, unlike the crazies you run with, the Humane Society believes in birth control (they spay and neuter pets before they can be adopted) – ironically the best way to stop unwanted babies (puppies, kitties, etc.) is by not getting pregnant to begin with. What a concept? Huh? And lastly, someone who is anti-war is VERY MUCH, pro-life. (remember over 100,000 innocent (grown/born) children have been killed (or more) since the war in Iraq has begun. Something your candidate, John McCain, refuses to talk about.

Another Conservative who doesn’t get ‘Satire’

Besides David Frum being a total POS, now he claims sarcasm and satire have no place in the presidential race. Who made him joke God? What is it with conservatives and satire? He thinks it is okay to call people running for president terrorists, but not okay to crack jokes about Republicans.

Rachel Maddow schools him on satire.

Frum, who unbelievably has the nerve to sit in judgment of anyone when his carefully crafted propaganda led us into an unnecessary war, employs the Republican tried and true method of creating false equivalencies to defend the indefensible tactics of the McCain campaign. And his target isn’t the expected Barack Obama or even Bill Clinton, but Rachel Maddow herself.

That’s right. For Frum — who by the way, has only a glancing relationship with facts — has the bad manners in addition to flawed thought process to tell Maddow that using snark and humor in her news show brings down the national dialogue just as much as McCain and Palin’s race baiting and fear mongering.

Governor ‘Abuse of Power’ just doesn’t get it

Alaskans are not happy with Sarah;

Sarah Palin’s reaction to the Legislature’s Troopergate report is an embarrassment to Alaskans and the nation.

AND

Palin’s response is the kind of political “big lie” that George Orwell warned against. War is peace. Black is white. Up is down.

I love how Republican pundits are downplaying Sarah now that they have figured out she is hurting McCain. I have heard at least three of them say in the past couple of days “It’s McCain that is running for president not Palin.” While this is true I find it ironic she no longer is important to the Republicans.
