He won’t say whether or not he will sign it, but . . .

Rounds says that if the measure reaches his desk, he’ll make sure it is written correctly before deciding whether to sign it.  He said smoking isn’t a healthy activity, but lawmakers must balance private property rights and public health considerations.

Better to get ready to eat your hat Angry Guy, looks like a veto to me.

16 Thoughts on “Rounds ratcheting up the rhetoric to get people ready for his veto

“Private property rights” (read: tax revenue from tobacco and VL)

Pretty much; weird, I just got off the phone with Rocco Tchetter and he said the same thing.

  3. Rounds has always taken lots of contributions from VL industry. Why would he cave to them now.

I just hope he doesn’t make a pussy move and veto for style and form. No need to wimp out now.

I can’t wait for him to veto it, I’m actually getting kinda giddy about it. With the stroke of the pen he will become more unpopular than Janklow, Unruh and GW Bush combined.

Shouldn’t surprise anyone though, I have always said this isn’t about property rights, it’s about worker rights. 99% of workplaces banned smoking years ago, why not bars and restaurants? We are a right to work state and have very little unions, state government has always been geared towards benefitting the employer not the employee, just look at Rounds’ refusal to take the unemployment benefits.

Rounds isn’t very good at masking what he’s really thinking – especially not after he made a hissy fit when SF tried to limit video lottery.

NEXT we need to ban salt…
Salt causes heart attacks – just ask your doctor.
    THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
My children shouldn’t have to see anyone putting salt on their food when we go out to eat. BAN IT! It’s a disgusting and unhealthy practice and IT NEEDS TO BE BANNED!

Randall….my blood pressure doesn’t go up if you decide to dump a quarter inch of salt on your french fries.

    Thus, your comparison fails.
