Not sure why I look like a Cabbage Patch Kid

Another wishy-washy, suit and tie,  mediocre politician throws their hat int the ring;

Peterson, a former District 14 Republican House representative, says he sifted through many options about where he would go next and now has made a decision.

He will run for mayor of Sioux Falls in 2010.

Uh. Who cares.

Does the city continue to grow, stagnate or die?” he says. “But as I thought my way through this, we had to face the fundamental question: What kind of jobs do we want and what quality of life do we want for our children and grandchildren?” he said.

Oh, c’mon Bill. This is the same old crap you spewed at council meetings when you were cheerleading for the retail tax increase that benefits the bid developers and asking for handouts in the form of FREE facades to Downtown property owners.

Bill Peterson = Dave Munson part II

19 Thoughts on “And the hits keep coming . . .

  1. Not quite, L3wis.

Peterson would be able to help blunt the petty, small town mindset legislators in Pierre who will always vote to hamstring Sioux Falls, regardless of the proposal and its merits.

We have a Republican controlled legislature and there’s no indication that will change anytime soon.

I don’t want to see any more tax increases other than a B&B tax to finance the Events Center, which I think will also be the defining issue for the next Mayor. That road leads through Pierre.

Also, talking to bill, you’d realize he’s a much smarter guy than Munson, and isn’t a lacky from one of our CC operations.

Give me liberty – Repeal Home Rule
Is there a candidate who represents the populace instead of sovereign city government? These guys are mannequins with MP3 output speaking into thin air. They have careers in Old Navy commercials but let’s keep them out of government.

    Your candidate is…?

Not quite guys. Special interests and DT businesses have Bill by the balls. That and Bill worked for a place worse then the CC companies, CNA surety. I found it hilarious when Bill talked about bringing jobs in SF when he worked for one of the worst paying employers in town. As for having clout in Pierre, Peterson is part of the ‘Pierre’ problem, not the solution.

I am still behind Staggers. I was leaning towards Costello, but ever since he thought censorship of an audit was appropriate and seeing that this weekend that he was business partners with another rich crook in our state, he know longer has my support.

  6. I have a ton of respect for Kermit, but as Mayor he would be a disaster for this City.

I bet his tune would change about the Mayor having too much power the minute about the time he finished his oath of office. Using that power to take us back to the Leave it to Beaver days will not be pretty, and many in Pierre would like nothing more than to see SF go backwards.

The man is many things, but he isn’t a visionary.

Oh, you underestimate him. If Home Rule gets repealed, the city council would keep Kermit in check. I don’t agree with Kermit all the time, but I do know he would strive to make city government more streamlined, which would save the city millions each year. I also think he would bring us up to speed on infrastructure upgrades and maintenance, something the current council and mayor have ignored. I also think he would make city departments accountable for their spending, something that isn’t happening now, especially with the Parks and Rec. Kermit is a very progressive person, he believes like I do that progress is centered around ALL citizens, not just the ones that can afford to fund campaigns. Growth may slow a little under Kermit, but it certainly won’t be haphazard like it has been.

My candidate is … Jesse Ventura. Shock and jock. Do we need a mayor if he does more harm than good? Seriously, my candidate is the one who will come out vowing to repeal home rule. If it’s Staggers, then he. I’ve heard he is mostly without special interests and for the average ‘Joe the Plumber’. However, I need more reenforcement to commit.

He is opposed to special interests. He also was unchallenged the last time he ran for council. IMO that speaks volumes about the people’s trust in him.

Damn… maybe I should run for mayor after all.

  11. Can Bill win with that 80’s hair?

Smart money is still on downtown and the guy from the county commission who was in charge of the fair and the treasure’s office.

I think Bill can’t help the hair, it’s naturally that way.

GoD, I do think you should run. There is going to be so many candidates there is bound to be a runoff. All a candidate really has to garner is 2nd place to move on to the bonus round. That means if you get at least 1500 votes you could move to the runoff.

I’ll run, as far as possible. From what’s been happening, there will be serious aftershock from Munson’s rule. It would take one term just to clean up the mess and handle legal issues. The books were cooked to long. Recession always hits here last. When California starts to recover, we’ll just be getting started and it will last twice as long. When it gets really bad, Sioux Falls could follow after San Diego and other CA cities: Bankruptcy to lay off workers, wipe out contracts with developers, and get control of the employees union. I could do that and quickly get things under control.

Maybe even a sales tax cut.

Yeah, the next mayor is going to have a steaming hot turd sandwich waiting for them on the first day. It will probably take a couple of days to clean up all the shredded paper in Schwan’s office.

The new mayor’s first purchase; A skid steer and manure spreader.

it would be wonderful if the FBI swooped in before the election to seize computers and files. There’s another 33 million headed this way from FED stimulus. Very important to stop it before the next term. Can’t wait for the end of the Munson Ponzi Syndicate. Some of these guys should do some serious time.

OK, I’ve discovered where Peterson is from. He’s the Lenin of HOME RULE. If he wanted to become mayor, why would he profess to having started this socialist empire? Present environment, he’ll not last. I hope his family doesn’t suffer because of his beliefs. Freedom is for the population. I’m not opposed to capitalism. However, all citizens must have equal rights and constitutional protection. Peterson is not the answer.
