All indications coming from congress say that this whole thing will turn out to be a total clusterfuck.
If they’re going to do this, they need to either implement a national health insurnace program similar to Canada’s, or strictly regulate how much premiums can rise every year so people can purchase affordable health insurance and not use the emergency room as their family doctor at the expense of everyone else.
With costs inflating at 9%/year, it won’t be long before your health innsurance costs more every month than your mortgage – that is if your employer can still afford to offer it.
I’m a person that says pull the bandade off in once quick sweep.
Implement a National Healthcare insurance plan that covers a 100% of costs, anybody can sign up for, and charge a premium that is taken from your paycheck. I guarantee that 70-80% of Americans with private health insurance right now would dump it for the plan.
In the last 13 years “health care cost” has risen by 86%
What cost $1000 in 1996 now costs $1860.
Each president of every major health insurer in the US averages over $20 million a year in salary alone – not counting bonuses.
That’s just the presidents – that’s not including VPs or directors or stockholders or any grunt-level salesmen or other bean-counters. That’s just the presidents.
Not for doctors or nurses or anyone that actually does so much as put a band-aid on for you – that’s just bureaucrats. The parasitic side of the industry.
And THAT is what the detractors of Universal Health Care are fighting for: it hasn’t got shit to do with coverage or care or drugs or technology – it has to do with rich parasites getting wealthier.
The doctors and nurses have the knowledge and skill to save your life and keep you healthy – the insurers do nothing but take your money – their “skill” is to deny you care when you need it.
OK – I’m watching John Cornyn (R-Texas)right now on MSNBC asking if Americans really want the Government in the examining room between themselves and their doctors?
Yes, John – we want the same health care package as YOU have, you sanctimonious asshole.
WHY don’t these TV commentators like Andrea Mitchell ask douchebags like Cornyn why THEY have private health insurance rather than the TAXPAYER package they have – and their spouses, and their children – and their children’s spouses, and their children’s children. For life – not until retirement – for ever.
Ask them why they think that’s a better deal than private insurance – and how it can be that they don’t get it that that’s what WE want too?
Ask him: why is it that multi-millionaires think they deserve taxpayer funded health care, but the rest of us don’t?
Hypocrites. They come on TV and say that government run healthcare would be disasterous, but not for them.
