Obama certainly made the press look dumb at his press briefing today.
Chuck Todd got told.
Asked why he wouldn’t spell out any consequences, the president replied, “Because I think that we don’t know yet how this thing is going to play out. I know everybody here is on a 24-hour news cycle. I’m not.”
I watched it at lunch, he was the snark master. He asked one of the reporters if he was the ‘omnibus of the press corp’ for repeating a question, the corp was laughing so hard I think a few of them fell out of their chairs. The reporter, visibly pissed, said ‘you spocked the question before’ so Obama, answered it the same, then said, “As for that Spock remark, are you picking on my ears?”
I also liked his answer about the insurance companies being competitive, and if they were, they won’t have to worry about going out of business.
I also like this answer in reference to how much he smokes, “I’m 95% cured”
The word you’re looking for is ‘ombudsman’, which is kind of the press’ role in relationship to the government.
That was some seriously funny shit. Better than Rumsfeld’s press conferences during the initial phase of the Iraq war.
