I got interviewed this morning about my feelings on the platting fees being so low in comparison to the taxes collected for arterial roads (see graphic below). I touched on many topics, but here’s a summary
– I think it is unfair to mandate retail taxpayers to pay an extra tax when the developers are not
– I thought it was pretty obvious the night the council approved the tax increase that we were going into a recession
– I think the tax increase was just a ploy to max out our taxes to what state law allows so that it will be easier for the SF Event Center Task force to ask for another tax increase next year from the legislature.
– I think arterial streets should be built on a DEMAND basis. If developers start moving dirt, we start moving dirt.
– I pointed out that councilors Knudson, Jamison, Litz and Brown all had their campaigns funded by the very special interests that supported this tax increase.
Obviously not all of this will make it into a 3 minute news spot. KELO also interviewed Theresa Stehly and they were planning on an interview with Craig Lloyd, the main developer who was pushing this tax increase. Mark Cotter, city planner, may also be interviewed.
I guess we are only in a recession when it is hurting the developer’s pocketbooks, not the rest of ours.
I’ll be watching since that is one of the 6 channels we actually get anymore. I don’t so much care about the subject matter. I’ll be watching because cameras don’t have grammar check. AWESOME!
Smartass.
I can’t wait to see Craigslist Mexican Hat Dance.
You think they’ll ask him the tough questions? I highly doubt it. SFMSM is crammed so far up developer’s asses they can call Munson a ‘neighbor’.
Trust me, as a cynic and pessimist, my expectations are low. Doesn’t really matter, the numbers speak for themselves. If you had the choice between a gift of $1 million and $8,000, I think we know which you would pick.
Ugh, Craig Lloyd sucks. Typical local news – state the outline of the story and then have one opposing quote and two positive quotes to make it look like there’s really no problem.
I caught the video snip. It’s about time citizens get attention. If you stand up intelligable and uncompensated, it’s worthy of media. The media curbs itself to prevent affluent friction. It was free speech but capitolism gained control. Now that Cuba is becoming democratic, maybe a Radio Free United States (Rufus) high frequency TV channel. The Craig Lloyds are old and dying in their manipulated economy. Subliminally, we can create a counter commerce where we look poor and bleed the system. Realistically, we barter and e-commerce to avoid sponsoring the wealthy. The middle class will save the union and eventually restore structure that works for this country.
PG – Whatever drugs you’re on, I want some.
Don’t hold out on me, man.
I totally intended to watch your thing, and then got caught up in turning MJ’s memorial into a drinking game. Fuckin HILARIOUS!
You can watch the video above.
You gotta love the major cable networks. Last night they were gushing about Paris Jackson’s heartfelt speech at the memorial service. This morning they were giving the gorey details of MJ’s body; Collapsed veins, white as a sheet, bald. Nice. “He was the best dad anyone could ever had, especially when he wasn’t high and wearing a wig.”
I’m still waiting for the ‘Donor does Debbie’ surprise proving the kids are not Michael’s. It’ll surface once the will is fought over. They don’t look like him. Then again, who does. Maury, we need you for another ‘you are the father’ routine.
I think Prince number one kind of looks like MJ. He might of donated the sperm on that one.
