Howard Dean smacks down Newt Gingrich by agreeing with him

medicalcosts_opt

As you know, I am a Deaniac, you can’t believe how giddy I got this morning when I heard Dean was debating Newt ‘Assmunch’ Gingrich this morning on ABC’s This Week. Dean was very precise, (paraphrasing) “A public insurance option would be a CHOICE not a REQUIREMENT.” Other great moments was when Howard basically called out Newt’s bullshit about end of life decisions (Republicans are spinning that Obama wants to let old people die instead of treating them). He asked Newt where it was in the current bill’s proposal, and Newt changed the subject, rambling about who knows what. I’m sure the googles will be hot about this tomorrow. I’ll have to give Howard credit, he is getting better at staying on topic, and makes his points short. He should be a political cartoonist.

I also found this letter to the editor about Thune. About time the SD MSM, at least printed something about his crap, too bad they don’t actually investigate and report it.

Have you wondered why Sen. John Thune is against health care reform? Could it be that he received $1,206,176 from the insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry, and hospitals?

He doesn’t mind using the health care he gets from the government – which means we citizens are paying for his health care. However, he doesn’t want his constituents having the same coverage. Does that make sense? To him it does, financially. But is that why he was elected as our senator? The underinsured and uninsured people in South Dakota ought to be asking him that question, and demanding a truthful answer.

Lobbyists’ money talks in Washington. Apparently, we citizens don’t have the clout to have Mr. Thune’s representation after voting him into office. Now he has other interests. Is his bank account more important to him than the people of South Dakota?

Late thoughts on ‘Miracle on the Hudson’

In the recent edition of the Hightower Report, Jim Hightower wrote a short article about why the ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ was so successful. He said it was because everyone involved were union workers extensively trained in safety procedures (pilots, stewardesses, fairey captains, firefighters and police). Funny the MSM media didn’t bring that up . . . ahem.

Yeah, those evil unions, where do they get off saving 150 lives? As Archie Bunker would say, “Geeessh!”

New Bistro in SF to offer Italian, French and Cajun cuisine

You want fish? Let’s have fish!

As I reported over a month ago, Rick Weiland’s wife, Stacy will be opening a bistro on Main Street at the end of the month. Her chef’s are trained in Italian, Cajun and French cuisine. I look forward to visiting the restaurant. I love French food and we haven’t had a place like that in Sioux Falls in a long time. Stacy and Rick also restored the space to it’s historical condition. If you know Stacy and Rick you will know they are big into historical restoration. They restored their home on Phillips Avenue to orginal condition a few years back (19th street?) and Stacy is heading up the restoration of the State Theatre. I think ‘Parkers’ (name of establishment) will be the new ‘in’ place in fine dining in Sioux Falls.

Cabela’s in Rapid City pulls a ‘Uptown at the Falls’

Cabela’s might as well start making vehicles for the working man

It seems another big wheel in South Dakota is looking for a FREE, socialistic handout;

All but one of four $500,000 cash payments to Cabela’s have been made by the city, but transfer of the land didn’t happen as quickly.

Sure, we will take the $1.5 million, but paying property taxes? No way dude.

Opponents of Cabela’s incentive package formed the No Free Lunch Committee that brought the issue to the ballot box. Spokesman Fred Weishaupl said he hasn’t changed his mind about the incentives package and questions why Cabela’s has waited to assume ownership of the land.

“Why should the city keep owning it? Why wait?,” he said. “Cabela’s doesn’t want it in their name to avoid paying property tax on it.”

Imagine that, kinda sounds like a couple of developers we have in Sioux Falls. I was surprised that Rapid City voters approved the subsidy. It has been well documented that Cabela’s asks for taxpayer handouts wherever they go. And it is not like they sell essential goods and services to citizens, they sell high-end hunting supplies and employee very few people at their stores. Cabela’s is a socialist company – wonder when they are going to start making ‘the people’s car’?

Free TV show

What a great day. My grandparents had their 50th wedding anniversary today in Tyndall and I got to see tons of relatives I haven’t seen for years, like my great uncle ‘Bingo’ who I told that I had not seen him since he built a cannon for 4th of July celebrations one year. In the drag racing hayday of the late 60’s my uncle Bingo was a well known drag racer and hydrofoil racer in Seattle where he owned a garage. I always remember his house because the living room was covered in trophies. He restores old tractors now and he told me he is going to start stock car racing, he said something like, “I’m gonna kick those little punks asses.” My great aunt Audrey told me she liked my cartoons, but I’m a little sarcastic “Yah think?”. I also finally got to meet my first cousin’s 4 year old son, Joe. He was pouting and I told him when I was a kid his age and did that while stomping my feet, my grandpa Carl told me if I kept stomping my feet when I pouted that I would turn out to be short, he was right, don’t pout kiddies. But I think the highlight of the day was when I went to see my friend Ben in Yankton and he gave me the below picture he took at the Chinese restaurant in Yankton. Funny shit. Who cares about the eggrolls when you have free TV!
