What people do not realize is greed must be interrupted to get control of costs. Obama’s plan is not perfect. If you want premium health care, pay what you’ve always paid. You’re already paying for those who can’t and savings will be what future markups would have been. The real problem is $50 you pay for an aspirin the hospital got at Walgreens for $2 per 100.

Word is they’ve already decided to ditch the public option. Good idea, IMO. The other reforms will have enough of an effect to get premiums to a managable level.

Demonizing the opposition by painting them as crazy fringe was backfiring on them.
The people who got up and yelled at the meetings were indeed the crazy fringe – as was the nutjob who showed up armed.
The people who bought the line about euthanizing grandma were either part of the crazy fringe or just naive. Same with the people who claimed you’d be forced onto the public option if you lost your insurance.
To me it looks like it will turn out as I predicted – realigning private insurance on a level playing field with the only public options as medicare and medicaid.
