Remember all those bat shit crazy protesters in front of Johnson’s office over the stimulus package?

Now it’s our turn to shine the light on Ironic Johnny;

IMPORTANT UPDATE AND CALL FOR ACTION!

Sen. John Thune will be at the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce tomorrow at 2:00pm to talk about his reasons for not supporting the “Employee Free Choice Act,” which is supported by both Herseth and Johnson.

This just came from Thune’s office:

WASHINGTON, D.C. —Senator John Thune will join representatives from the South Dakota business community, including the health care, retail, and agricultural sectors, to discuss the impact that “card check” union organization would have on South Dakota on Friday, March 20th. Senator Thune is an outspoken opponent of card check.

“Simply put, card check union organization strips workers of a cherished American right to a secret ballot vote,” said Thune.

THE TRUTH, HOWEVER, IS THIS:  Under the proposed legislation, workers get to choose the union formation process—elections or majority sign-up. Under current law, employers make the choice.

So Thune told a bold-faced lie? Big surprise. It’s the only thing he has been good at since he has been in Washington.

I think Thune’s true motivation is illustrated in his next sentence: “Increased unionization through card check organization and binding arbitration will mean higher costs for industries across South Dakota, leading to job losses and higher costs for consumers of many goods and services.”  Thune does not support working men and women and is using scare tactics to create a smoke screen.

It’s time that we draw public attention to John Thune‘s true focus and his track record.  He supported the Wall Street bail-out, but did not support the Economic Stimulus package that will help families across the state of South Dakota.  Even Gov. Rounds supported this legislation!  South Dakota’s voters need to recognized that John Thune does not have their best interest at heart.

It’s also time to reveal all the earmarks he put in a bill that he voted against. Can you say, ‘I want my cake and I want to eat it to?’

Therefore the SDDP is holding a rally tomorrow at 2:00pm outside of the Chamber of Commerce.  We need people from all walks of life to attend – men, women, older and younger, to show that John Thune’s policies simply do not reflect the interests of the vast majority of South Dakotans.

PLEASE BE THERE!

AIG and the Posturing Democrats

Famous South Dakota liberal and all around great guy, James G. Abourezk, writes a great column about AIG;

America’s downfall began in the 1980s when Democrats in Congress started taking money from corporations for their election races.  Before that, they took only labor money and money from ordinary citizens who had no ax to grind.  Since the 1980s there has been almost no criticism from Democrats of the excesses of the corporate world.  That lack of questioning and of criticism has led to more and more deregulation of the financial industry, which has led us to the condition we face today. 1941

Plantiff FINALLY has his day in court, and more to come

The hearing that city attorney Shawn Tornow has been obstructing for years finally started yesterday;

Sioux Falls resident Dan Daily brought the case. He argues the city’s administrative hearings violate basic due process rights of residents and businesspeople who appeal citations or disputes with the city. Daily has been battling the city over a $200 driveway extension since 2006.

The city hires private lawyers to hear appeals and render decisions when a resident disputes a citation. But Daily argues those lawyers are not sufficiently independent from the city, and residents aren’t afforded basic rights that are the foundation of the state’s judicial system.

If the city is paying them – how is that independent?

The process doesn’t guarantee residents the ability to subpoena witnesses, request depositions or force the city to produce documents. But former City Attorney Gary Colwill testified that the city’s intent was to create a “citizen-friendly process.”

You are kidding, right? When you say ‘citizen-friendly’ are you talking about project TRIM’s vague blanket code enforement? Or are you talking about how you can destroy someone’s credit rating through small claims court? Or are you referring to the flow-chart that looks more like a ‘Where’s Waldo’ poster then an official process? Just what part are you referring to Gary? Either you were flat out f’ing lying on the stand or you are completely delusional.

Maybe Plaintiff will give us an update in the comments section . . . .

You mean City Hall is trying to boondoggle us with the tax increase? Get out!

Mr. Elgersma is the only person who probably follows city government closer than I do, he wrote a great letter about the bait and switch with the recent retail tax increase;

So why did the Sioux Falls city sales tax go up? It was said that it was to fund arterial streets. These streets were in the capital improvement plan budget for five years.

So the city made a deal with the developers that the developers pay part of the cost of the arterial streets if the sales tax was raised to pay the rest. But no one said what the money was being raised for since this expense was already budgeted. What did all that money really go for? Did City Hall just want more money to play with without telling us what it really was going to be used for?

Of course they did Roger. I knew from the beginning that the arterial streets were merely an excuse to increase the taxes. Just like flying in a bond consultant, at taxpayer’s expense, was a diversion to try to get us to end the petition drive. Dishonesty and deception rules city hall, something I have known for a very long time.

Neocon crazy letter writer of the day . . .

Okay, he’s not that crazy, but he is wrong. Obama has said repeatdely that he wouldn’t sign this into law. Remember, the liberals are the big FREE speech people, not the conservatives.

Liberal Democrats, from the so-called party of tolerance, are attempting to regulate conservative talk radio out of business with the Fairness Doctrine and the Minority Ownership Doctrine.

Why would Democrats want to regulate or silence it? It’s like a gift from Heaven lately – they keep digging their own grave everytime they talk, I say more crazy conservatives on the radio, not less.
