How true it is

Rahm Emanuel told Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation that Rush Limbaugh has become the voice of the Republican party.

“He is the voice and the intellectual force and energy behind the Republican party. He has been up front about what he views and hasn’t stepped back from that which is he hopes for failure. He said it. I compliment him for his honesty but that’s their philosophy that is enunciated by Rush Limbaugh. I think that’s the wrong philosophy for America.”

Yeah, move even farther to the right, that’s the ticket. They just won’t be satisfied with losing a few more seats in 2010, they must want to lose all of their seats.

The Gargoyle Leader endorses stifling public dissent

Maybe I’m not getting something here, but why is almost the entire council and our joke of a Fourth Estate trying to stifle public dissent? It is no surprise that the AL took the side of the council on this one, they have been anti-citizen rights for a very long (and they will continue that next week when they raise the Sunday paper to $2 an issue. So will we get an extra 25% news? Doubtful.)

City councilors have said that advisory opinions aren’t always confidential and at times have been used for political purposes.

And they’re right to some extent.

The advisory process does need to be protected so that residents can’t make reckless allegations against any official under the cloak of openness.

What freaking part of OPINION do they not understand? No one is making ALLEGATIONS. They are asking questions.

According to Wiki:

An advisory opinion is an opinion issued by a court that does not have the effect of resolving a specific legal case, but merely advises on the constitutionality or interpretation of a law.

Asking if a councilor has a conflict of interest is something citizens should be able to have the right to do (since we elect you and pay their wages). When you become a public official your actions SHOULD be under a microscope so you are always acting in the best interest of the people.

Residents already have a process that’s sufficient for addressing any possible ethics violations they perceive. They can file an official complaint, which then is investigated. If the investigation uncovers any merit to the complaint, the complaint eventually becomes public.

This is assbackwards because essentially you are allowing a councilor or city worker to break the law first before anything can be done about it. And if it is found that the person has a conflict will their decisions be overturned? Probably not. That’s why an advisory opinion FIRST is the way to go, it prevents a conflict. If they prefer the opinion remain confidential, fine, I can live with that, but don’t get rid of the process.

Sioux Falls Area Super Dooper Pooper Sale a Huge Hit!

Hi there!

My family wanted to let you all know what a wonderful time we had at this special Sioux Falls Area Super Dooper Pooper 3-day sale.

http://siouxf.planetdiscover.com/sp?aff=1129&skin=300

As our beloved civic-minded leader, Mayorless Munchkin, instructed us to do when city economic times are good (like today), then we EggBerts UNITE & go out & BUY lots of stuff & crap! (some candid EggBert Family action photos in town this weekend are below) –

The quality of the items up for sale was just unreal.  Here are some of the terrific items our family purchased in order to help stimulate ourselves and the local area economy…

Gramps Grumpy Gumps scooped up some deals on ice cream at Ken & Gerry’s Ice Cream Wax Parlour.

Neighbor, Creamy Nugent picked up some 2-fer-1 dog dildos for herself & pooch, Pubes, at Kermit’s Petco.

Granny Gumption ventured downtown to pick up her free city calendar & to enjoy Mayorless Munchkinland.

Niece Nellie’s boyfriend, Petey Schwetty, reported to us that he got some cheap screws at Ace Hardlyware.

Uncle Rusty bought up some cheap Indoor Pool stock options from Vernal Brownie’s Pleasure Dream Dome.

Neighbor, Jed Nugent, bought a discounted mouse crumb at Jamison Junior’s jumbo Houses For Sale.

Aunt Bertha purchased & planted development seeds into Big Bob’s Bicep Shop & Golden Boy Garden.

Neighbor, Ned Nugent, enjoyed a wild time with a low-cost hole in the wall at Pat’s Borrowed Buckaroos.

Neice Nellie bought some pawn pieces at Dee Dee K’s House of Chess Porn.

Me? I bought a little of everything, or as I like to call it – I bought our children’s future in Sioux Falls, because with this sale having been such a HUGE success, everyone wins.  I just wanted to do my share for our local, state-wide, and national economy. Mostly, I hope and pray that our collective use of purchasing power this weekend helped with local arterial road development, to pay for more city workers, and to pay higher salaries for current poor city workers.

Sincerely,

EggBert (The Super Dooper Pooper Soo Falls Sales Man!)

Just when you thought there was no hope for me

I have often told people I don’t have a problem with faith and religion, I have a problem with hypocrisy.

There is an awesome blog that has been on the South Dakota blogosphere for awhile, and though I don’t agree most of the time, I thouroughly enjoy the straight forward approach to Christianity. No BS, so to speak.

If you are a follower of Christ and his great teachings about love, peace and diplomacy, I recommend you check it out, the rest of us have a vodka martini we have to get back to.

When times are down, have some sauerkraut

So I’m walking downtown last night and I get a text message from Oliver Surden;

“Just ate at the Bohemian Cafe. I’m in sauerkraut hell. It was awesome.”

People from every corner of the world have come to enjoy an authentic Czech meal and to satisfy the deep depths of their rumbling stomachs.

Bastard! Rub it in with gravy and gigantic dumplings you little jerk.

As you know, the Bohemian Cafe in Omaha is swinging joint

Just when you are having a decent night, one of your friends has to f’ck with you and tell you they are having a better night.

Oh well, Oliver deserves it, he also deserves the cabbage hell that will be inflicted on his gastric system today.
