What MLK, Jr. Day means to the EggBert Family – 2009

Like when eating Chicken at our annual MLK, Jr. day family gathering, we prefer pure White Meat –  so be very, very afraid of unhealthy Dark Meat. Be particular about choosing your type of Original or Crispy Crust, be on the alert for Bones, and watch your backside when partaking of a Mixed order. Thank God chickens aren’t made out of non-white people…

Sincerely,

EggBert & family (except Uncle Rusty and Gramps Grump Gump, who are at some dumb MLK, Jr. event at the downtown MultiAnti-WhiteRacial Center – the bigots!)

I wonder if this will happen here too…

The red light cameras in Minneapolis are coming down. I’ve long said red light cameras are borderline illegal. This gives precident to sue the city for any money lost due to red-light tickets as well as increased insurance premiums. Hopefully, the days when the city can just set one of these things up and watch the money roll in are over.

On a related note, if you intend to park dowtown in the forseeable future, make sure you keep feeding the meter. Studies have shown that parking ticket enforcement increases as other city revenue decreases. The same can be said for the ratio of warnings to citations issued for minor traffic infractions.

Who knew law enforcement couild be so profitable?

“A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth.”

I would like to thank King for his contributions to civil rights, which is a benefit to us all.

Erin Rath writes a great letter to the editor about King’s mission.

Nothing in this country happens without a fight, and if anything we have learned from Obama’s campaign and Bush’s failed administration is that we must not be apathetic. The next administration will not be able to change the status quo in this country without us. So step up, tell your public servants how you feel as often as possible. Otherwise you are just part of the problem.
