This letter writer seems to get it;
Too many candidates espouse fiscal prudence only when they are running for election. Staggers’ entire record shows he can be trusted to responsibly manage and allocate our taxpayer dollars.
Heck, we even had Sweet Vernon ‘The Velvet Hammer’ Brown coming out saying he is a fiscal conservative. This letter writer is correct, just look at Kermit’s voting record, he has consistently voted against unneeded spending.
Collins the letter writer is from Church of the Gate where you will find Staggers biggest fan club. It says something that Kermit was the only mayor candidate at Hickey’s campaign kickoff. You’d be hard pressed to find ideological differences between them. Maybe they met when Staggers was on the Alpha Center board
I do not oppose Staggers and agree with the letter writer.
However, he was on the council while Home Rule-Corrupt Mayor destroyed city government to the point that anarchy is even a better alternative.
It happened on this councils’ watch. They weren’t watching. None running for mayor who are now on the council should be elected. Staggers could win if he comes out vowing to repeal Home Rule. If elected, it would certainly help him for litigation settlements in his first term.

20,000 home based businesses (full & part time) who must pay an annual zoning fee when one was not required before
2,000 citizens who think gates should be added to snowplows
10,000 relatives who share anti-city sentiment from allof the above
