Oh believe me there is plenty of intolerance! This is the most clicky area of all to live. You have your ranchers, rodeo fanatics, better than thou’s, dopers, drinkers, mentally challenged, state workers that do not fear losing their jobs, Indians that come spend monies, but seems to me are really not welcomed. Got your politicians that have a hard time finding a place to stay, cause all the money peole have filled the town ready to spend some cash trying to get the politicians to vote their way.The best place in town I hear is Zesto’s altho I do not get there because of long lines and my need for a drive up. I have lived north of town for over six years and I know people (can count on one hand) but have yet to meet any friends. So don’t plan on coming to Pierre and changing anything to quick, they are a slow moving bunch, love the status quo. About the only person I know that shook this town up was the Janklows. I love them, honest South Dakota loving family each andeveryone. I truly wish there was a Janklow type interested in doing what is right forthe people of SD that was running for a position in Government. Are you thattype? Who are u and what will you do?
I know this is an old post but I wanted to add 3 cents. I have Steve Hickey on my facebook friends. I thought or hoped he might have had an ounce of wisdom that giving more power to the state goes against the grain of Jesus teachings. Yet – his posts often discuss his struggling to make a new law which would further the nanny state. I’ve seen him defending mandatory vaccines, laws to punish parents for mistakes, and others which would empower the banking class. I also had an occasion to meet him in person at a local presentation. At first I didn’t know that was him and his wife in the $30,000 outfits then discovered that was the alleged man of the lord. Actually the fir lined coat was more on the level with something I’ve seen on Starsky & Hutch.
I wouldn’t say he’s a bad guy. In fact he would make a nice neighbor (if he didn’t call the city code enforcers if you forgot to wash your car one week). But I just think he’s a little naive and power hungry. His righteousness is of the “Burger King” sort.
