“Italian marble? How about we throw a little ice on it?” (Image; KELO-TV)
When people say that the private sector in Sioux Falls can’t raise a measly $10 million to build a youth hockey facility, I say, look at the minnow-munchers;
That’s why the ongoing $16.2 million restoration, preservation and beautification project means so much to him.
That’s right, the Catholics in our community and state somehow found a way to scrounge up $16 million, not to feed the poor or help the sick but to put in Italian marble in the cathedral. Wow! My point? I scoff when people say that we don’t have money in the private sector to build club sport, special interest, recreation facilities.
C’mon, dig deep folks.
SIDENOTE: As an artist, I am very excited about the restoration project, I have often felt that the cathedral is one of the most beautiful places in Sioux Falls and I can’t wait to see the finished project.
