Ironic Johnny continues to be a ‘Bunning’ on the issue of the EFCA

Give it a rest already John;

WASHINGTON – With the Obama administration promoting efforts to unionize workplaces, Sen. John Thune warned business leaders Tuesday that they should be ready to mobilize against congressional efforts to help labor groups organize employees.

“We cannot let up. We have to be vigilant. We’ve got to stay on this issue. This is organized labor’s No. 1 priority,” the South Dakota Republican said to about 250 business and chamber representatives from eight states attending a U.S. Chamber of Commerce conference. “We have to defeat this. … We have to be prepared because this could happen on very short notice.”

Why should we defeat this? Because it might require South Dakotans to have the chance to make better wages? It is blatantly obvious that Thune has his head shoved up the ass of corporate interests, Hell he worked as a lobbyist before running for Senate, and once he got in the Senate the first thing he tried to do is give his pal the biggest Federal Loan in the history of our country to a private industry. When are we gonna wakeup and realize this guy is a fraud?

“Chamber of Commerce people seem to think that if you keep giving money to corporations, that will fix the country,” said Mark Anderson, president of the South Dakota State Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.

Well, Mark, they are the largest lobbyist group in DC. Remember, Washington, and our very own golden boy, Ironic Johnny, only respond to cold hard cash. And the working class of South Dakota certainly are not sending it John’s way. He knows who he works for . . .

“This is a black-and-white issue, and we need to keep it that way,” Thune said.

I agree John, it is black-and-white, so why are you painting it red?

Get your SF city government hype on

“The heck with potholes! What about me!”

Get out the shovel, The Gargoyle Leader’s editorial page reads like what is left on the bottom of the birdcage, good thing newspapers make good cage liners;

As a matter of fact, city officials have decided to cut money to nonprofit organizations by 15 percent across the board.

These organizations help provide vital health and social services across Sioux Falls, but the economic reality is clear. The city simply can’t maintain present levels of support until there are signs of a definite rebound.

But, we can continue to fund tennis locker rooms at McKennan Park and monkey crappers at the zoo. I still remember how pitiful it was when the director of the Gloryhouse had to grovel in front of the city council for a measly $8,000 from the city, and was denied. What is the GH’s mission? Keeping ex-cons out of jail and becoming repeat offenders. Not only is that a blessed mission, but it actually saves taxpayers money in court costs and incarceration, and most importantly it helps these men and women became better people. But hey, pink birds are more important, apparently. Then of course they blew a wad on this project again.

Now let’s start with the candidate endorsements. I really enjoy reading these letters, because they are so sugar coated I could puke. Let’s start with Patty Cake;

Costello is a university-trained certified public accountant. That training and his work in the field help him understand the complicated undertakings of financing and accountability for budgets and expenditures.

He worked ONE YEAR as a CPA. Whoo-Hoo!

His peers on the council have seen fit to have him serve as its chairman.

I encourage everyone to watch the council meeting where he was voted in. Not everyone on the council gave Pat the green light and for good reason, he has used the position as a campaign prop, as this letter (form) writer has proven.

His investment in the local community as owner of a restaurant . .

Don’t forget he also is a partner in one of the most troublesome, meat market bars in town, Borrowed Bucks, but you will never hear Patty Cake talk about that.

I really don’t have much to say about this letter, since I kinda support Bob;

Christensen is the candidate who will make the concerted effort to listen to the needs of citizens. His work ethic and leadership have been shown whether as lieutenant governor of the Optimist Club, volunteer leader in his church or operating an independent business – he always gives 100 percent.

Work ethic? He clips hair for a living. I do admit though, Bob seems to be a guy who likes to ask questions, and that is needed on the council, or in the barbershop for that matter.

And now a little trip down ‘Ironic Lane’, nope I’m not talking about Thune, I’m talking about ‘Ironic Mikey’;

It also been stated that Mike has no political background or experience. Well, everything we do in life is political such as getting an education with limited funds, earning a promotion before your co-worker does, buying a car and not getting ripped off and taking a chance to go up against those who minimize your political experience.

LMAO! Mike built a career in the Credit Card industry ‘ripping people off’. I about fell out of my chair when I read that sentence. Mike, you should have proofread your sister’s letter before she sent it. I’m still laughing.

And let’s end today’s rant with a little wisdom;

I’ve learned a long time ago, you can’t have everything you want.

Maybe you should tell that to the people running for office these days.

The anti-teabagger group, the Brown Baggers

I found this group interesting, and they have an event tomorrow in Sux Falls;

Brown Bagger Movement Gets Started in South Dakota

When:   Wednesday, March 3 at Noon

Where:  326 East 8th St, Suite 108 (Congressional office of Rep. Herseth-Sandlin

What:

The “Brown baggers” movement, a progressive alternative to the Tea baggers movement, will converge on the Congressional office of Rep. Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin on Wednesday, March 4 at noon, in order to express their frustration at a failed political process that continues to funnel enormous resources into unwise and unwinnable wars while millions of Americans lack adequate health care and jobs.  According to the organization After Ten Downing Street, one of several peace and justice organizations backing the Brown bagger movement,  “Brownbaggers are asking members of the House to publicly commit to voting No on any bills that fund wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Yemen, and to publicly urge their colleagues and the House leadership to make the same commitment. As lesser steps in the same direction, PDA is encouraging congress members to cosponsor HR 2454, calling for an exit strategy from Afghanistan, and HR 3699, prohibiting any increase in the number of U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan.”

Background :

“We have to choose between jobs and wars,” said Progressive Democrats of America’s national director Tim Carpenter. “The American people are on one side, but our so-called representatives in Congress are on the other. The Supreme Court is busy increasing corporate control of our elected officials. We need to be busy enforcing the people’s control before it is too late.”

“Without wasteful war and military spending,” said PDA’s deputy director Laura Bonham, “we could have healthcare, jobs, housing, education, retirement security, environmental sustainability, diplomacy and foreign aid. No longer will we take seriously anyone’s claim to support these things while voting to fund more war.

And now let’s move to the Gordon Howie comedy hour (actually only 2:47 minutes of pain). I think he has beat Blake Curdfluffles out on embarrassing youtube moments. Someone needs to get Howie the memo; our gun rights in SD are not being threatened, we are a pro-choice state (you lost two ballot initiatives) and politicians should not dress like morticians when addressing the public.
