Just back from the special session on redistricting. Lots of polite listening, but in the end the committee report was adopted on a party-line vote. As a result, several more legislative districts become virtually impossible for Democrats or Independents to win. Yes, the lines could’ve been drawn even worse. That was sorta the argument for supporting the plan. One reporter called it a “chicken and egg” dilemma: most South Dakotans know that more balance in the legislature would be good, but it keeps getting tougher and tougher for Democrats — due to financial resources and the way districts are drawn.

  2. It is disgusting. It would be nice if the reverse would happen and the r’s would be dumped on.
    Does she who must not be named have to move out of her mother’s basement to a new basement in a different district?

    The simple answer is we need more people to run! Just throw your name in the hat which will water down the bad people’s efforts and help drain their accounts. There should be 30 candidates for each district running.
