  1. I asked the mayor about the ethics complaint and transparency, and he responded that they had nothing to do with the EC presentations.

Yes they DO! People have to trust their government.

You can’t cut off your hand to spite your face. People must trust their government on ALL levels.

What if you had a FORD pickup and and a Chevy car, and your mechanic couldn’t fix your pickup? Would you take your car their because they are different brands? Think about it.

  2. I just chewed the mayor’s ass about throwing bloggers under the bus on Belfrage’s show. I told him I was sick of his line to the media about ‘bloggers spreading rumors’.

He had some BS line about ‘other ANON bloggers’ What ‘other’ bloggers? Jen Holsen, is Jen Holsen. What other political blogs are your referring to in SF? Joel Rosenthal? He isn’t anon? BID’s website? Hildebrand is not anon. The only thing I can think about is the Argus Forums, but that isn’t a blog, that is a comment forum.

If it weren’t so stupid, I would be angry.

  3. I didn’t get hung up on, and tried to respond, but Greg isn’t a big fan of me, and vice-versa.

  4. Hi Scott. I did not cut you short and I appreciated your initial call. You had plenty of time to address the mayor, far more than some of the other callers. All three phone lines were ringing for most of the hour and I was trying to give as many people as possible an opportunity to question the mayor.

You violated one of my cardinal rules on the show. I only allow listeners a single phone call. Your second call stole time from others who had not yet been on the air. The reason you weren’t able to respond is that I had potted you down since you had already been on the air. I understand the “blogger” issue is a personal one for you, but it simply wasn’t relevant to our conversation on the Events Center. I did not pot you down over any personal animosity between you and me. Despite what you think of me, I don’t operate that way.

  5. These people are idiots. When you are a public employee – you don’t post yard signs (unless they are your own), you don’t give money to a campaign(Entenman – $2,000 to BIN), you don’t walk around press conferences holding a sign, ETC ETC ETC. My goodness – how totally stupid can you be. It’s embarrassing and they are running this election and then plan on spending $190 million in tax dollars? And people wonder where the distrust comes from.

  6. My favorite from the Mayor’s bro-love-fest with Belfrage:

“Offer to the voters a ‘worst-case scenario’ for this project.”

HisManMike (TM) proceeds to define a worst-case scenario as that which will evolve in the city if we do not build an Event Center.

Hey Mike, what is the worst-case scenario which results in the event that WE DO build this thing … it is THAT which voters with business acumen want to know !

  7. I guess worst-case scenario for Your Man Mike is that the pop stars of 1999 will play to half-empty houses in the old Arena as opposed to 3/4 empty houses in the new MacArena.

  8. “I understand the “blogger” issue is a personal one for you, but it simply wasn’t relevant to our conversation on the Events Center.”

How could it not be relevant considering the mayor has been crying about how the bloggers are against the event center?

  9. I firmly believe there is a 60% chance that the event center will be 1/2 built then will come to a stop due to economical problems ramping up. Anyone in that industry can see this but their at a “Take the money and run” scenario.

  10. Corn – I was tipped off of that this morning, but was too lazy to go take a picture. I guess Ellis got around to it. What complete BS, the county auditor having a sign in his yard. He isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer sometimes.

scott – I agree. As I said when addressing the mayor, he has told every media source he could that bloggers are spreading rumors, and I had had it.

Greg – thank you for clarifying that, I didn’t really have anything else to say to the mayor about it anyway, I told him my feelings and denied he was talking about me or Holsen. Whatever. That’s his deal.

  11. I’m happy that Greg Belfrage reads your blog. Maybe you’ll become the Blog Whose Name We Do Not Speak on his show. Awesome.

  12. The one thing that I have never understood……..

Greg Belfrage’s employer Backyard Broadcasting and Gary Weckwerth’s Stampede are business partners…………

It seems that maybe Greg should have been offering this as a disclaimer all those many times he has been so openly promoting a new EC on his morning program!!!
