Of course this debate has been going on for awhile, and Noem is starting to show her true colors, now that I have been elected to heck with my constituents;
WASHINGTON — President Obama and Senate Democrats appealed to House Republicans on Wednesday to return to Washington and approve a two-month extension of Social Security payroll taxes and unemployment benefits before they expire Dec. 31.
House Republicans resisted those pleas, instead calling on the Senate, which already approved the two-month deal, to negotiate a one-year extension.
The $33 billion, two-month plan extends a payroll tax cut for 160 million American workers, benefits for the long-term unemployed and Medicare payments for doctors. Barring any action by Congress, Social Security payroll taxes will go up almost $20 a week for a worker making a $50,000 salary — that’s $40 less for a typical paycheck or $1,000 over the whole year.
Oh, but we need to keep the tax cuts in place for millionaires and billionaires so they can create jobs . . .
As I have said to many – a 2 month extension does nothing but give these a-holes a clear conscience for Christmas and puts yet another band-aid on a problem. Get your ass back to Washington and find a solution. And guess what – you don’t get to go home for the holidays until there is one. I am so tired of this entitlement shit when they haven’t done their job. The rest of us are working today – why the hell can’t they? This 2 month extension is a joke. The next time we need a solution they will probably be getting ready for Spring Break. Get back to Washington and do your damn job!
Yes, I agree on the merits of debating 2 months vs 1 year extension. But I also believe that if the Senate passed a 1 year extension, the House would find something wrong with that bill as well and again hold it up in committee or vote it down.
Exactly Scooter – you simply cannot take anything those folks do at face value. There is ALWAYS some other agenda being served. ALWAYS.
If they really want a one year extension… than pass it without all the extra crap on top. It should pass with a huge bipartisan majority. Case closed.
I know it won’t happen though, because that takes away all their bargaining power and we can’t have that now can we. We need to slide this little thing in or add that little thing. At the end of the day it is politics as usual.
TEA partiers caved. So much for principles above reason.
The important thing here is the Chinese will get their Canadian oil.
Back and forth, back and forth, same old, same old.
I see they caved. But did Noem vote? Hmmmm

Looks to me like everyone involved is voting; “Yeah – whatever”.
