Citizen Reporters
I read two blogs for local news. SouthDacola and Jennifer’s Musings. Their articles are usually well researched (especially Jen’s) and their commenting system is much more fun to be a part of (even though it’s not connected to Facebook). I know for a fact that some of these blogs get tens of thousands of readers a month. I also know that most if not all elected officials read those blogs because some of them get very upset by the accountability they bring. Each writer has a small army of volunteer reporters working for them as well. Volunteers sure keep the payroll down.

Thanks Andy!

10 Thoughts on “Thanks for the props Andy

I heard Andy call in to Rick’s show today.. Good call on the cost of running for office. At least running for state rep is not too expensive which Andy should try – we need more non-establishment folks there to investigate and expose the crooks!

  2. Reminds me of all this BS Joe Kirby talk about getting councilors less involved in city government so more common folks can run. Give me a break, name recognition and money is what wins in politics today. Ask Kermit about being crushed by money.

  3. Thanks for the compliment Analog Kid. I have great respect for Mayor Knobe and Ruth is about the kindest woman on the planet despite the fact that she and I agree on 2% politically. I even stuck up for the current Mayor. I meant it to. He did spend a lot of money but he also campaigned hard.

  4. I told Huether early in the race (summer?) that him and Kermit would be in the runoff because they are the only ones really knocking on doors and campaigning. When Kermit made the runoff he told me that he was astonished by my prediction coming true, but it didn’t surprise me.

  5. I have great respect for Mayor Knobe and Ruth is about the kindest woman on the planet despite the fact that she and I agree on 2% politically.

That’s kinda’ scary Andy. On a scale of one to ten for both rick and Ruth, (ten being you agree the most, one you agree the least), how do you rate the two? For me, I give Ruth about a seven, prolly a nine if her handlers at KSOO unleashed her, and rick a one.

You got that right. huether spent more money than all the other candidates combined. Prolly three, four, five times as much combined. it’s the same reason we have an EC coming down the road. When you blitz the media outlets with the same message every twenty minutes to gullible listeners, eventually BS becomes fact.

Poly, don’t be scared. In local politics I’m sure Ruth and I would get along just fine.

  8. Andy – I like Ruth also. My memory is foggy, but Ruth interviewed me once on the show (can’t remember if it was phone or studio) but Knobe was not present. And I just remember her being very fair.

That’s a great way of describing Ruth “Fair”. That’s why I love listening to that show and hate listening to that show sometimes. It’s like democracy, it’s a voice for everyone so you have to sort through some “interesting” folks. I’ll take it over the “preaching to the choir” shows where everyone is just yelling the same message at each other. It’s a fair place and it was the ONLY place I heard hard questions about the EC. Knobe has earned that after years of learning the system and then crafting his work as a broadcaster.

  10. He needs to learn how to spell Kristi Noem’s name though.
