SF City Council meeting turns into a tribute to Owen while Rep. Manny Steele compares a drag show to a KKK rally

Why wasn’t I invited to the drag show?

I wonder if Manny’s son, who is openly gay, likes his father comparing him to the KKK? (Public testimony during the SF City Council meeting). Besides Manny’s rant about drag queens, several people came to speak on behalf of the former city clerk. I did not come, because as Steve Hildebrand said earlier today,

“I will skip the 7 pm meeting because I probably would use the public testimony to air my concerns and say things that I later would regret.”

I would agree. I had my own rant about 4 AM this morning in my locked bathroom. I’m pretty sure if I would have repeated that rant tonight, I would be in jail. It did include one line that I will repeat,

“The city council consists of a bunch of fucking chicken shit hypocrites.”

Theresa Stehly used a biblical verse to drive her point home about Debra Owen;

Luke 8:16-17

“No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.”

Theresa went on to talk about the darkness that exists in our city government now. How true it is.

The Argue Endorser and Stormland TV have respective stories today.

Our garbage removal process is garbage in SF

I guess I really never thought about it, but unlike other major cities, we don’t have curbside garbage removal;

As things stand today, that’s a chore my daughter or son won’t have to worry about. That’s because the city of Sioux Falls wants its residents to pay more for garbage service. The wise men of City Hall don’t allow their residents to buy curbside garbage services. Thus, you pay more.

The garbage collection system in Sioux Falls is unique. Not just unique, but odd. And incredibly inefficient.

While I totally agree we could improve on curbside garbage service, my hide has often been chapped about recycling in Sioux Falls, something we should get credit for on our bills, since the garbage haulers are making money from my recycling while charging me to pick it up. Seems kinda odd and chintzy.

I have a great hauler, one of the most prompt and inexpensive in town. I even convinced one of my neighbors to use them. Falls Garbage.

But it is kinda irritating that I have to hear a garbage truck almost every weekday from different haulers at different times, and at different locations in my hood.

I’m starting to wonder if the SF School District is also hiding the Holy Grail?

Once again, the SF School District denies public information to the public;

The district denied a recent request for a copy of Superintendent Pam Homan’s contract, citing an exception to the state’s open records law that makes “personnel information other than salaries and routine directory information” private.

Yawn. Typical of Homan and her administration. Remember when they shredded all the new school name suggestions from the public for Rosa Parks school? Why? Because I can pretty much guess that Rosa Parks wasn’t one of the recommendations. This is typical of Homan, yet the school district denies she has anything to do with it . . .

Simons said that even if Homan wanted to release her own contract, the law would not allow it, because “in South Dakota, personnel files belong to the employer.”

Who pays Homan’s wage and ’employs’ her?

Novstrup called the Sioux Falls decision “outrageous.”

“They’re saying, ‘We are spending the taxpayers’ money in a way that we don’t want you to know,’ ” he said. “We’re still not to the point where the elected official or the bureaucrat understands that the citizens own the government.”

It’s kinda like your boss handing you a paycheck then you turn around and tell him to do your job.
