The best part of the public testimony was when the owner of Ten Thousand Villages called Huether out on a campaign lie about building the EC downtown and he denied it, then she told him not to ‘Thank Her’ and he did as she walked away, and she turned around and told him again, ‘Don’t thank me.’ Dave Billion Jr. also spoke and said that Billion Auto would not be a business sponsor of the EC if built at the Arena site. This is kinda a blow, considering Billion is one of the largest car dealerships in the country, and the fact the Billion family shits quarters – and makes really bad TV commercials 🙂

High Approval Ratings for Mayor Huether Match Optimism About Sioux Falls Direction

Over 60 percent of Sioux Falls voters approve both of the job of Mayor Mike Huether and of the direction of Sioux Falls, according to the Sioux Falls Survey by Nielson Brothers Polling (NBP).

Looking more closely, 69 percent of respondents approve of the mayor’s job. Among those, 18 percent say they strongly approve and 51 percent somewhat approve. On the other hand, 10 percent say they strongly disapprove and 21 percent somewhat disapprove. Concerning the direction of the city, 61 percent of respondents say Sioux Falls is headed in the right direction, 18 percent say wrong direction, with 21 percent undecided.

“Our poll indicates Mayor Huether has more than maintained the public’s approval since October 2010 when 60 percent rated his job performance as excellent or good in a poll published by the Argus Leader and Keloland”, said Paul Nielson, a partner in NBP. Nielson added, “Optimism about the city’s direction is high.”

Mayor Huether receives slightly higher approval numbers from respondents under 65 years of age (71 percent), men (71 percent), and Democrats (74 percent).

Nielson Brothers Polling surveyed a random selection of Sioux Falls voters over a three day period — May 23-25. NBP polled 460 respondents for the question on the direction of Sioux Falls — margin of error of 4.6 percent — and 431 respondents for the mayoral approval rating — margin of error of 4.7 percent. Both questions have a 95 percent confidence level.

From the Sioux Falls Survey, NBP has previously released findings on the proposed Sioux Falls events center and Grand Falls Casino. Still to be released are findings on questions about teacher salaries and at-large city council members. NBP plans to continue to research and publish local opinions as a civic resource. Does location really matter when we know the Events Center is doomed anyway?

The Sioux Falls city council will be hard at work again tonight voting on things that don’t really matter

Let’s face it. IF four councilors and the mayor choose the Arena location tonight we know that besides the older generation (who votes often) that is opposed to it you will have several other opposition groups. Build it Downtown will oppose it and there is rumors that an actual Events Center opposition group is forming. Take those 3 groups and a bad economy and I don’t see a 51% majority. Maybe that is why the council is split. Think about it. At the end of the day when the vote fails they can blame the mayor who ultimately could have the last vote and say in the location. Which I find ironically different then the last rubber stamp council. IMO, location doesn’t matter even though I lean towards the logical location for economic development, downtown. And the logo I created for them is pretty fucking kickass to. I guess I do my best work for free 🙂

Call me crazy, but I don’t think an events center vote should be yea or nay. There should be 3 questions on the ballot;

• Do you support a new taxpayer subsidized events center?

• If so, do you support it being subsidized by funding source A or B?

• Where would you like to see the EC built? Downtown? Arena location? or other?

Sure, there has been poll after poll over the years on the EC but the ultimate poll is voters at the ballot box.

Let us decide for once.

Here we go again, our constitutionally inept city council with the help of the SFPD and a laundry list of consultants have decided that pawn shops, flea markets and antique dealers should be treated differently then other business owners;

The main concern is that a third-party private company will have their customer records and officials are able to view them without a warrant, she said.

Industry members proposed their own ordinance, which would require a warrant for law enforcement officials to be able to look at store records.

Twenty-one Sioux Falls businesses have signed off on the industry’s alternative proposal.

What’s one more ordinance on the books in Sioux Falls that violates the US Constitution? We gotta keep our city attorneys busy. It’s kinda boring when they only have one constitutional lawsuit going at a time. (currently they have lawsuits against them on code enforcement, red light cameras and sewer backups that occurred during the Munson administration.)

But as usual, Vernon has a great excuse;

Councilor Vernon Brown said the new ordinance is by no means extreme, especially compared with other states.

“The pawn industry is able to be regulated according to the courts for consumer protection.”

Who gives a rat’s ass what other states are doing? It’s blatantly unconstitutional. But you seem to want to roll the dice and see if the courts will rule in the ordinance’s favor. That is silly. Why put ourselves in that position? Councilor Anderson is the only one to stand up to the ordinance (ITEM #52 • FF to 1:50)

Instead of trying to find out who is selling stolen Sublime CD’s maybe you should be trying to catch casino thieves.

EGGBERT: Weiner seeks leave of absence from House

Dear fellow Floggers:

Regarding this rather unspeakable, Peter-ugly, Democrat-typical, immoral “wiener event,”

With great regret, I am needing to stand up tall, let ‘em hang, and come clean here – (or as Granny Gumption puts it: “Little Egg-Beater – either shape up & show me your clean balls, or ship out!!!!”). It doesn’t matter that I was indeed one of the all-beef, fully HETROSEXUALIZED victims of CongressManly Antonio Weenie, it’s utmost important that he be locked up to never “weiner” anyone in Congress again.  However gender-confused & difficult this somewhat tragic and newsworthy happenpantstance has been, I admit I had a small if not tiny/puny and wee role in this drama-ramma-dingdong.

I am boldly erect in admitting that I unknowingly giggled and twatted the word weiner more than once on a Pubic Library computer during frequent times this past year while performing extensive research into the vast array of “Weenie-Juice Use as either an Antibiotic, Mood stabilizer and/or Sex hormone in the field of Underground Restaurant Management Survival.”

It seems that now it has been openly revealed  – (or as Gramps Grump coins newsflashes of this largeness: “Uncle Johnson has been un-caged and his wild & wooly and/or cute & cuddly Harvey wall-wanger is now out on the prowl”) that CongressManly Antonio Weenie’s magnificent images and sensitive messages were somehow exchanged with me during the heat of these Pubic Library moments. (Tiger growls & rooaaarrrrrrrrs and then sad Puddy-Cat whimpers & meeeeeowwws!!!!!)

Ok, I know that this very more than one scrotum-sided relationship needed to stop anyhew, but unfortunately, without further gentle Twats, funny Face-spaces, Shudderfly-shares, and Teste messages from my honey-bunny, I  realize that my weenie-juice will just up ‘n dry out and my usually wet-William Staunch Republican Egg-White Stoke-Yoke may  just fall over limp ‘n lewd-nude like…
