Here is a few rumors circulating . . .
Greg Jamison may run for mayor against Huether (Jamison won’t confirm this with me)
Tex Golfing will probably not seek re-election to the city council (not sure why?)
Jim Entenman will probably not seek re-election to the city council (two rumors circulating is that he got what he wanted, an events center and a tourism/room tax implemented).
Aguilar will probably not seek re-election to the city council (I guess she is not happy about the progress of the RR relocation project). What progress?
I’m not from here. I’ve been here for a year. What’s my shot of making the city council? I already applied for one of Iron Mike’s city commissions and was promptly shot down.
Muq, probably pretty good considering there will be many open seats. Entenman’s is an at-large. What district do you live in?
I would be happy if all the rumors were true.
Entenman and Rolfing are both at large, and both terms end in 2014 so there may be two at large seats open. I won’t miss the Harley shirts, I can tell you that.
Muqhtar you should run. Huether got in and he’s only from Yankton.
Mr. E should run. I may not agree with some of his insaner ideas but I would gladly buy and wear one of his T-shirts. He would be much more saner for Sioux Falls than most.
Grud – And give up my blog? No way.
Perhaps Diamond Jim isn’t going to run so he can blatantly try to cash in on the event center.
Rex’s house is for sale.
With Home Rule charter, councilors are just cheerleaders. Huether has all the power. I’d suggest running for mayor. With a hundred or so candidates, the vote would be diluted and Huether would lose. I’ve thought about running and diverting my votes to any candidate who vows to repeal the fascist city charter.
After the 110 million events center bonds forbearance, everybody will want to skip town before the FBI shows up. Staggers & Jamison are probably the only true patriots who will remain to rescue and recover city finances. I don’t want that job. However, I would like to be the one who fires dysfunctional city employees in favor of cheaper better private contractors. I’d also want to have something to do with clipping the city retirees gravy train by 30% or more.
I know that Rex’s reasons are personal, that is all I know. I think a lot of people get in those positions, then realize it is quite a bit of work.
Speaking of city gossip…anyone heard anything about a couple of our city police motorcycles being involved in an off duty accident?
Nope. Tell us more.
