SF MUNICIPAL / SCHOOL DISTRICT joint elections?

Since the city decided to throw the school district’s Bev Chase under the bus (mini-van) in the last joint election. The school district drew up a contract with the city that asks them to handle entire joint elections in the future and the school district will reimburse them for 100% of their costs.

SOUNDS FAIR.

READ THE ENTIRE contract HERE: electioncontract

Problem is the city (mayor) have yet to sign the contract and the deadline is December 31, 2012. The bigger concern is how this may affect the joint school board election with the possible snowgates petition question.

As I understand the contract, if the city decides not to sign they would have to hold a ‘special election’ for snowgates. The other concern would be having ‘super precincts’ for a special election.

I think something as important as snowgates, ALL of the precincts need to be used.

I guess we will wait for the mayor’s John Hancock.

Two question rule? Poppycock.

Michelle, you are chair of the SF city council, that’s it. Didn’t you get enough railing about this a few months back? Your two question rule is silly and wouldn’t stand up in a court of law. If councilors are on a line of questioning, why would you cut them off after two questions and break the cycle? When an attorney has a witness on the stand and they are about to admit guilt, does the judge cut off the line of questioning?

I think you are only enabling and assisting city directors to mislead.

Snowgates: Get ready for the vote!

I got word this week that the city is anticipating snowgates will be on the Spring ballot with the school board election.

The drive is well past the 4,800 signatures needed. Hopefully next week they will be turned in – I have a number, but I am going to let the public be WOWED!.

BTW, I was told today that a prominent state politician signed the petition, and when asked why they signed it, they said, “Because my neighbor died of a heart attack scooping that berm of snow out of the end of their driveway.”

One more reason these need to be approved.

While that might not be a very good selling point (or heck, maybe it is) I think we should come up with a slogan for snowgates.

Here’s mine;

‘DEATH TO THE SHOVEL!’

Give me your best shot!

TAKE THE SURVEY! Then attend this meeting!

The mayor has sent out this letter and survey. I find it interesting that once you complete the survey it takes you to the SF Chamber of Commerce page.

The interesting part about this meeting is how the city caters to the big wheels in this town, CONVENIENTLY holding this meeting at 7:30 AM on a Tuesday so it doesn’t interfere with anybody’s work schedule, and having it early enough in the morning so maybe none of the working stiffs in this town will notice. I also did a search on the city website to see if I could find a public notice about this meeting. No such luck.

Funny how the city can find time to have a meeting like this that is not on their 9-4 PM schedule, but when it comes to government meetings like the informational or the charter revision, they have them in the middle of the afternoon when NO ONE can attend. I guess when they are legislating and making rules and laws that effect the general public, they don’t want you to attend.
