My ‘Opinion’ on the School Sentinels Bill

Trust me, there are many compelling arguments as to why the Sentinel Bill is legislative stupidity on many levels;

A proposal to let schools arm volunteer “sentinels” for defense passed the South Dakota Senate Wednesday and could be headed to Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s desk.

The school sentinels bill gives every school district the option to arm teachers, staff or community volunteers, but doesn’t require any district to bring guns into schools.

Allowing guns in schools to make them safer is similar to storing gasoline next to your backyard firepit to make it safer.

But I’m sure my commenters will have plenty to say about whether it makes schools safer or not. My biggest problem with the passage of this bill is how our state continually comes across as backwoods hillbillies because of our state legislators. Even if this bill passes, there won’t be a single school board in this state that will approve having armed sentinels in their schools. So why even move ahead with this? You don’t heal a black eye by punching it again and you don’t make schools safer from gun violence by allowing more guns in schools.

Huether for Governor or Senate? Improbable, but I hope he tries.

I have often suspected Mayor Mike Subprime ‘Sanford’ Spaceheater may be looking at a run for governor. People with those kind of personalities are always looking for the ‘next big opportunity’. Mike has already accomplished what he wanted to as mayor, getting an Events Center built, he has also over extended our city to the max. In a business man’s eyes, he accomplished his goals, broke the bank while doing so, now it is time to move along and let the next person clean up the mess. He certainly doesn’t bode well against other prominent Dems in our state, especially Herseth.

The first question was whether I had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Daugaard, Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, Mike Huether and Scott Heidepriem.

I hope he does run, but I have a feeling he will suffer the same demise as other Democrats, that and his ‘style’ would never fly in West River. I know Mike will talk about his many accomplishments, but people have to realize that the citizens of SF took on extreme debt to make these things happen. He may have wrote the checks, but we will be paying the bill.

Snowgate Art (H/T Angry Guy)

I listened to an attorney and a prominent doctor in town discuss the medical dangers of scooping snow out of the end of their driveways, tonight at work. They both confessed to me, ‘Snowgates’ are the way to go.

While I tried to make some time elapse image of snowgates in use, I think I got to ‘photoshoppy’. But, as for art, this turned out pretty cool.

Speaking of rude comments online

I had to chuckle when I saw this. While Stormland-TV railed about online commenters, The Argue Endorser’s own sports reporter doesn’t have a problem with tweeting sexist remarks. Is it funny? Kinda. But silly, just like Stu Whitney. Hey, Stu, 1982 called, they want their haircut back.
