Went to the work session today, and the city attorney pretty much read the city ordinance in reference to the 5 minute rule. And Michelle tried to pull her head out and bring up the ghost of Munson and Roberts Rules.

Good stuff, including this image. Thank goodness he was elected mayor.

  1. Photobomb by MMM. Really?!? Stay classy, Sioux Falls.

“A chicken in every pot”, President Herbert Hoover.

“A WalMart in every ‘hood”, MMM.

  2. PLEASE tell me there is an online video of this somewhere so those of us who missed the display can see for ourselves!

  3. “Who is the old dude he is making fun of anyway? Inquiring minds want to know.”

Burt Neiber…one of the finest gentleman around… and a World War II vet to boot!

  4. I never thought I’d say this but our fumbling, bumbling, photo-op whore of a Mayor makes me long for the days of Shufflin’ Dave Munson.

  5. I did see the mayor do this live during the game and my first reaction was embarrassment. You could see he was waiting for the camera to be on him and he did not waste a split second to begin acting as a jackass. The people around him were visibly uncomfortable with his performance as well. What a moron.

  6. LJL – Was it his ‘coarseness’ that bothered you? LOL!

Scott, remember what happened the last time you used the ‘media whore’ reference? I am just sayin’

  7. I did not see the KSFY News at Six. They did a story on that photo op that showed a photo-shopped pic of the mayor pointing down at John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The preview to that story showed at 5. Looked pretty good.

  8. There is much more to the background of “the old man” that many of us who attend the Summit league tourneys from year to year understand. And what the mayor was doing. It is best left that way.

  9. OSF, point taken.

However, if MMM looks like a tool and acts like a tool … well, I think you get the point.

  10. OSF, as somebody who doesn’t go to Summit League (or any local sporting event) games, I have no idea the background of that fella. Please fill us in.

  11. He is a 96 year old fan from Brookings.

He has been in pretty much the same seat at every Summit League Tourney game I have attended. Right when I saw this clip live, I knew the mayor was pointing out to the TV audience the oldest guy in the crowd and many SDSU followers would know him.

    From a 2005 college newspaper article…
Brookings resident Bert Neiber has been coming to games for the last eighteen years and has been sitting in the front row for the last five.

“I just love basketball and women’s sports and love being able to be this close and support the team,” Neiber said.

Many of the players recognize and talk to the fans sitting courtside. Some even made their way over to Neiber during warm-ups to visit for a few minutes.

  12. Perhaps the mayor should have been more respectful than to gesture in this way to Mr. Neiber.
