The city council recently told the snowgate petitioners that they could not have a spring 2013 election because they didn’t ‘budget for it’. Yet magically $1.8 million dollar surplus showed up;

The Sioux Falls City Council is deciding how to spend a $1.8 million surplus left over from last year’s capital budget, money that could go toward a variety of projects.

Why the city council even bothers horsing around with this is beyond me. Everybody knows who holds the purse strings of this city; Mayor Huether.

GETTING ‘HUETHERED’ BY ELLIS

Speaking of old Mikey boy, Ellis did a fantastic column about his arrogance today;

Huether was not amused. KSFY asked him about the photos (Huethered). He refused to look at them. Then he invoked God, which is seldom advisable in these situations, telling KSFY: “You know what, have fun, have fun. If you think that’s what God wanted you to do with the days that were given to you, have fun with it.”

He came across as crabby.

And a Charlatan, which he is.

HIT THE ROAD JACK!

But this coming week may get a little rocky for MMM. I recently got a tip that Mike got into a tit-for-tat with the governor’s economic development office over a business that wanted to relocate to Sioux Falls. More on that, once I ‘Huether’ out all the deets.

LET’S GO SWIMMING (OUTDOORS OF COURSE)

And since the media already knows, I might as well let the cat out of the bag. The Save Spellerberg petitioners are turning in their petitions this week. They have well over the needed 5,500 signatures.

  1. ONCE AGAIN, (for the THIRD time), our community will have an opportunity to officially voice their opinion about taxpayers funding or NOT funding an indoor swimming pool…..

    April 2014……potentially a new mayor, four new councilors, AND community-based decisions regarding SNOWGATES and SWIMMING POOLS!!

    BTW, where is Mike and Galen’s Snowgate Report that they promised to deliver to the public in March 2013!!??

  2. The “Build it Downtown” movement? You do realize that we are building the facility in an area that has yet to sprout even one new business with it’s construction and arrival? Oh wait – we have a brand new parking lot at McCart fields and the DMV is moving into the old steakhouse, soul food, country kitchen, and everything else it has been in the last five years. Give me a whoop, whoop for devlopment in that area.

    As for the shot you just took at some of us that actually live in this neighborhood and are in favor of the project, I will lend myself to say the same thing regarding groups that start a petition every time they do not agree with city goverment. Do I have any problem with that? Nope. It’s the beauty of where we live. You can be passionate and supportive of what you feel is right. Unfortunately – the beauty of the petition process is now scarred as even if you do due diligence in this process, this Mayor and city council will screw you on your rights of having a public vote.

  3. If it does go to a vote, and assuming it is voted down just like the two prior attempts at indoor pools, do we have any reason to suspect the city council won’t try to simply defer for a year or so until the next pool is up for renovations/improvements?

    It sort of seems like the citizens are fighting an uphill battle on this one. The city leaders have already decided they want an indoor pool, and they really don’t care what the “uneducated, ignorant” voters say.

    Regardless of your stance on the issue Alice is right… the petition process is scarred. Perhaps the voting process itself isn’t far behind.

  4. Alice – I’m as big a critic of the EC location as anyone, and I was a big BID supporter. I meant my comment as a joke – don’t take it personally. Also, who is your second paragraph directed at? Who took a shot at your neighborhood?

  5. Alice, I would agree, they are trying to shutdown the petition process by denying elections. This will soon change. If you think the ‘Heuthering’ Pictures and Walmart announcements were a couple of big chings in Mike’s armor, those are just nicks. There are a few ‘Biggies’ coming on the horizon that are going to take Mike down to whole new level.

  6. For those who are trying to stop MMM from doing what he wants, have fun, have fun. If you think that’s what God wants you to do with the days you were given, have fun with it. Thank God he was elected mayor!
