A Positive Thumbs Up Sign

My thumb is going to start hurting this week, but this is what these foundations are supposed to do;

The biotechnology industry is about to get a whole lot stronger. Tuesday, the Sioux Falls Development Foundation announced it’s investing $3 million in SAB Biotheraputics which uses genetically-engineered cattle to produce antibodies all in an effort to fight infectious diseases.

I think this will be great for jobs and growth in our community and state and a perfect fit for our development foundation.

  1. Enough of the thumb. Once more tho at the end of the mayor’s term. He’ll need a ride out of town.

  2. So the State of SD takes my tax money and gives it to an unaccountable Sioux Falls Development Association (which is lead by Sanford employees) to buy stock in a for profit company (owned by Sanford) that is having no problem raising private equity.

    And we wonder why SD is labeled as one of the most corrupt states in the Country?

  3. The investment was extensively vetted by the board of directors, chairman Scott Lawrence said.

    “The ecosystem this could create is pretty remarkable,” he said, adding the investment gives the foundation a chance to expand its revenue streams beyond buying and selling land for development.

  4. SFDF

  5. This company is the old Hematech that came to town in the early 2000’s to much fanfare cause it was partially funded by Kirin Pharma from S Korea. Kirin sold thier interest pretty fast when they realized the lack of any long term viability and they have had several investors in and out of the deal since. They have to my knowledge never gained profitability. Eventually they moved out of the 3 separate office buildings in Valhalla Office Park into free rent at the Sanford Research Park when they were “purchased” by Sanford. Smells real stinky to me
