Funny how the commission gets to see this presentation before the council – or at least I can’t recall the council getting the presentation yet?

Darrin explains TIFs before the new TIF presentation. While he is correct that TIFs don’t cost taxpayers up front (even though we are footing the bill to administer them) we are losing property tax revenue for several years. Basically the developers are paying themselves property taxes and using the money to pay for the development.

  1. What a bunch of crap. Darrin also is one of the most boring speakers with a condescending attitude. I really liked his start trying to build his cred. He is also a quitter because he couldn’t do it.

  2. Please don’t bring sloth noncompetitive bid rigged city projects into county commission meetings. They’re productive. Darin (himself) said there’s no waste. To me it looks like he’s trying to make points for when the feds come down on Home Rule Charter. The obvious fix is a combined city/county government and he’s (obviously) playing for a slot.

Darin reminds me of Art Garfunkel from the ancient musical pair Simon & Garfunkle. At some point he’ll realize there’s a ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ but he can’t cross it and will always be a backup singer.
