Thumbs up to the Sioux Falls Street Department

This is something that has been tossed around for awhile, and I highly recommend the city budgets in 2016 for these units;

Sioux Falls Street Fleet Galynn Huber says the city is in line to update technology on their trucks that will make your life easier the next time it snows.

“When we eventually go to putting GPS units in our trucks so that people can see where we’re at, it’s going to be key,” said Huber

The GPS would track the snow plows as they cleared the roads.

It would also help residents see when snowplows are in the area, for parking, driveway scooping, etc.

Blue State Ball, 2015

I had the pleasure of attending the Ball for the 2nd time this year – Friday night.

Besides meeting a fantastic group of bleeding heart liberals (I don’t like the word ‘progressive’ sounds like an exercise machine) I also got to chat with Minnesota’s Attorney General, Lori Swanson, (guess what we talked about, I’ll give you a guess, he has a couple of buildings named after him in Sioux Falls).

I also got to discuss for a brief moment with Tom Hartmann about the ‘Grim and Determined’ and how revolutions get started, I mentioned to him that community organizer, from Seattle, Jim Diers calls the loud and angry minority ‘The Grim & Determined’ while progressive radio talk show host and author, Tom Hartmann calls them ‘The ones who start revolutions.’ This was a real eye-opener for me, and what separates those who get involved to protect our Republic, and those who try to bat us away like flies.

Detroit, Bruce and Hartmann, talking ‘social’ revolutions.

It was also a blast to talk with Stephanie Miller, who not only does a daily radio show but is well known for her ‘Sexy Liberal’ tour.

Let’s just say, I have audio of her performance, and it is even too raunchy for DaCola. But I will give you a teaser, “The Minneapolis airport made me gay.” Larry Craig, the gift that keeps giving.

I also was able to get a good story in about state Legislator Isaac Latterell and my ‘nickname’ for him. Stephanie made fun of him a few weeks back (sorry, not sharing).

The Aria in Minneapolis, where the event was last year.

Of course, the trip got off to a good start by stopping at Brau Brothers Brewery for lunch in Marshall, Minnesota. While we got 2 flights, I drank most of them. Special of the day? Crab Cake sandwich with slaw on top. Fantastic!

Pavilion needs new roof

CORRECTION: Remember the cinedome that needed a new roof last year? Well the 15 year old remodel now needs a new roof at ENGINEERING COSTS OF $78K. (Can’t wait to see the final costs to come in on the roof) While this is probably true, we need to take this into account, this is the kind of maintenance we will need for the Events Center over the next 20 years. Why is it that city facilities need so much maintenance?

I also see the city needs to purchase ‘dumb bodies’, I thought we were already paying a hefty price for them 🙂

City worried about Mobile food vendors, still waiting to hear about restaurants recycling

displaymedia.aspx

While the city worries about where these trucks park and sell taco in a bag, they still haven’t addressed my issue with restaurants recycling glass, aluminum and plastic. They claim there has been ‘complaints’ about noise and litter. How many? And did they know that current ordinances already cover litter and noise? This is a non-issue looking for a solution.

Kill these proposals!
