  1. Well since Walmart pulled it’s permit for 85th and minn they will go to I29 and tall grass or sundowner along 85th down to county 106 the tea exit. Over 2000 acres to be developed. The city planners at one of the advocation meetings last year told to a group that no lift stations for sewer were at tall grass and 85th but later on ksfy cotter said its there. That’s a 10 million dollar fib by planners wtf. I’m hoping wAlmart has had it’d fill of MMM and our planning liars to do the right thing and build responsibly and not ruin a neighborhood called twin Eagles.

  2. Why does the mayor appoint people to the ethics committee? They should either be appointed by the counsel or at least voted on. He must have further unethical endevers planned like giving tax monies to private enterprises as his wifes tennis club.

  3. Huether’s were on KDLT yesterday. Cindy the homemaker brought an apple pie. To look taller, mayor stood on something behind a table. Could almost see his knees but above waist of others. They spoke about their daughter leaving the home castle 50 miles outside of the city.
Worst impression. This is the guy who decides people who judge other people’s ethics!

  4. No doubt east side Walfart was a success. Central one and Sam’s are major. Northwest store may be a mistake. Very quiet there. Lots of cars in the lot but it’s an unofficial commuter lot. I suspect they’ve reoriented their thinking for the region. There are better locations closer to Sioux City without having to deal with the corrupt mayor with a rigged real estate development zoning and construction.

  5. Correct Dan. I believe the word corrupt should all be in capitol letters though.

  6. 85th/29 area too close to existing store (2 miles) and will NOT be a residential growth area much beyond what it is.

SE (85th/Minn.) most remote from existing stores and WILL be a RAPIDLY developing residential growth area.

NW store will start to see more traffic once rebuild of Hwy 19 is complete. Also – Crooks and Baltic/Dells will soon be adding a lot of development.

For example, Dells just completed building a new bridge across the Big Sioux – which will open up development options South of the existing city – which have never existed before. One problem that has restricted Dells growth to date has been their being SURROUNDED on three sides by quarry (East), rural residential development/golf (West), and the river.

Yooze guys really need to get out and look around a little bit. You might learn something.

  7. As to “closer to Sioux City” – there are already Walmarts in Vermillion and LeMars. I think they’ve got that covered.

  8. The media articles were talking about 2000 acres to be developed. This will be bigger than 41st and Louise area. Demographics might lead one to believe the interstate access with a whole slew of new companies and corporations who are not here yet, but are waiting til we near the 200k plus population will explode. I can’t believe Walmart would not want to be in the mix with that, lennox, parker, tea, sw sioux falls, and harrisburg, beresford all bedroom communities. The drainage issues not resolved yet probably never will be for springdale and shindler creeks will make houses with greenscape easier to slow down flooding, I can’t believe they will be able to build for 40 acres of rooftops and parking and not annihilate the housing at 106 and Minn and right into Harrisburg. The 100 year floods seem to be happening once or twice each year now.
