callcenter

Joe Sneve, the new city reporter for the Argus Leader wrote and article about the under hand moves of the Mayor and his Sidekick, Darin Smith;

The city already had spent more than $35,000 building the website and buying advertising to promote it before City Council members or the public learned about the project.

“You talk about transparency in government. You talk about saving money. You talk about building trust in government. What (Huether) has done violates a lot of the principles that I think most of us live by,” Councilor Greg Jamison said. “I’ll be proposing to change the language so we can prevent things like this from happening again.”

And it seems as of 7AM this morning, people are ready for a new mayor or is it an indoor pool? Elections and polls are so confusing these days. I think we should act quickly like we did with the indoor pool and hold the next mayoral election next week. And who are these 13% anyway?

  1. Great news items for tomorrow’s srgus. mmm on page 1A with his mug on billboards, and another headliner by mmm’s press agent on page 1C. Who else who might be running for mayor has the advantage of taxpayer funded billboards and kiosks at the denny and airport?

  2. sounds like order splitting to me. The fed procurement regs would send someone packing home for this foolish behavior. The council better retract the contracts and void them out and order the signs be removed and move to recall mmm. Then Figure out why mmm had city employees do foul deeds for his highness its taxpayer dollars mmm and smith are screwing with.

  3. Even the Mayor’s press secretary Stu Whitney can’t save him now. If this were a parliamentary system mmm would be gone. Maybe we should work with the mayor’s charter revision committee to make the change.

  4. It’s only order splitting if the three contracts all went to the same vendor. It would seem that, given the dollar value of the contract to the design firm, the mayor’s staff was well aware of the $25k threshold. But that happens all the time in procurement.

The council can’t void the contracts without exposing the city to litigation by the private parties with whom the contracts were entered. At this point, work has already been performed. The vendors are entitled to payment.

  5. But man, he sure never passes on an opportunity to promote himself while doing the city’s business…

  6. I heard one person, and one person alone made the decision to have his mug on the billboards. I will give you one guess who that was.

  7. Again probably no competition so mmm and smith got their shock value to surprise us all. What else are they up to. If he can orchestrate this wait til we here we have spent a bunch of tax monies when he runs for gov. I suppose that happens all the time too You can pay the vendors leaving the bill boards up is not appropriate imo as a tax payer.

  8. How was your lunch with councilman Anderson? Funny when Parks Dept. head Kearney came to your table. Ha! You got busted!

  9. This sign is not about jobs. It’s an illegal campaign advertisement for Mayor Mike. Needs an ethics hearing but he’s the one who decides so won’t happen.

  10. Funnier even yet, KDLT just announced someone hacked the new job site and added a few additional jobs……….. one for a new mayor for SF!! That’s rich!!

  11. THC, that was pretty funny. Especially when Kenny asked Don to join us, and he said NO, twice. I wanted to ask him about the MOU with the VA, but there was already enough steam coming from his ears, he must have had something spicy for lunch 🙂

  12. Regarding the hacking of the city Jobs website and new jobs added by the hacker, the inclusion of the job opening for mayor of Sioux Falls was in the 9:30 lead-in to the news for KSFY, but interestingly not included in their 10 o’clock news report.

The mayor himself must have made a few intimidating phone calls to get it removed.

The reference to the opening of the mayor’s job was also removed from the 10 o’clock broadcast on KDLT.

That just goes to show what lapdogs our local media have become. None of them serve truth and the public first and foremost. This is a pattern obvious to the public.

  13. No doubt our local media are lapdogs. ‘Sposed to be watchdogs, but this is what we get instead. Case in point. The argus Facebook page. On many, many occasions I have seen their Facebook page stories wiped clean cause the comments made don’t follow their pre ordained agenda. I recall when they posted their story on ALEC and Jennifer Holsen made a very compelling statement against alec. I thought about that and decided to support her post. Guess what? The post and Alec link were gone. Wiped clean by the thought police at the argus. Story showed up again the next day without any comments. Looking for something to support their own agenda I guess. Right now you can go to their Facebook page and read the story of the mighty T DENNY and the ADA story. There are a few comments there now critical of Joy and what she is trying to accomplish. Will those comments be wiped clean? No chance in hell. You see….it follows the argus agenda, one dictated by its most important advertising client.
