I am not against them receiving money, but I am still perplexed with what they do besides sending out press releases about community art projects (Item#1).
When the SF Arts Council was called the Sioux Empire Arts Council, they received, I believe, about $35,000 a year from the city, and they rented the Horse Barn for $1 a year. I actually rarely go to Falls Park anymore since they closed the Horse Barn, it was really an asset to the Park, now it is a storage shed or something. The SEAC having an actual gallery space was important to their mission, and since the SFAC doesn’t have one, I kind of question their mission besides being an aggregator for art RFP’s for the city and hospitals.
