The County Commission has not yet posted their agenda for Tuesday, September 1st, so I am not sure if it will be a planned presentation or public input. But if it is public input, I must remind the county commission to only allow him to speak for five minutes, which I know will be difficult for him, especially after watching him ramble for over 20 minutes during Chief Barthel’s retirement announcement.

The rumor floating around is that he is going to talk to the commission about ‘working’ with them. I guess it has only taken him 5 years to figure out we have a county government.

  1. It’s no secret the county resents that the city gets 6 times more budget from taxes than the county. Yet, the county provides welfare services and the jail. The city’s proposed budget is 20 percent higher. It has to come from somewhere. I hope Huether knows better than to squeeze the county. They’ve had to raise property taxes just to make ends meet. He has no shame.

  2. since mmm likes to brag he is a business man, “working with” usually means, “you will do what i say, or else”.

  3. My impression is that ‘Business Man’ doesn’t work in government. Budget gets spent on foolish projects awarded without competitive bids to a fixed contractor network that rewards the mayor. Crime and social problems go from bad to worse. Infrastructure budget gets reassigned. Everything gets turned around so fault is assigned to subordinates while the mayor miscommunicates so he looks good. Give me that old time government where a respected leader gives back with service to the community that made him successful and prominate. It’s not right for a mayor to make his fortune from public funds fraud.
