  1. Please listen to Sierra Brousard. The city has grown and there’s a problem with gangs that needs attention. I’m hoping the new police chief focuses on what’s been ignored.

    That’s me. I’m old & fat. Some things set me off. Our city falsely accuses (maybe arrests) people. They’ll recruit your neighbors having them make false complaints. They say they’ll keep you confidential because the city becomes the plaintiff. True, but you’ll be subpoenaed into court then later sued civilly for damages. A liar snitch gets relieved of some assets.

    You should know you can be plucked into custody without grounds. You’ll have to defend yourself with an expensive lawyer that the city doesn’t have to reimburse you for. It’s their form of punishing you if you speak up about city corruption.

    1. What the F%#$k is she talking about? I get there is lots of calls to motels but what is it she wants in place to resolve this?
    2. Please produce the court records that show you were “threatened” during a court hearing. Can you produce 911 call records of you calling for the code enforcer parked in front of your house. Keep in mind you are now on record as confessing to threatening someone else with a shotgun.

    You folks get in front of the counsel night after night and make a circus out of the public input process. I’m no fan of many on the council but they shouldn’t have to deal with this bullshit. Who will they listen to when all this ranting happens every meeting? I’m all for public input and healthy cynicism but this is embarrassing for our community.

    Should Rex Loafing make someone remove their hat, no. But it says a lot about your character when you wear a hat in a public hearing regardless of the subject matter of the cap.

    Try to have a little class and if you want to be respected, show it to others.

  3. LJL, I will agree, some of the rants are silly, but I also have seen a lot accomplished from people who talked at public input. Youth free bus rides, opening the library on Sundays, a EC siding settlement are a few things that come to mind. Sometimes the council does listen.

  5. Huh? “Street Justice will prevail”….What is her background and where did she come from? She’s threatened legal action against the city on what grounds? The hate against area motels and hotels confuses me? She was in “Ferguson”? KUDOs….share your photos on Instagram on move on…

  6. Respect is earned and not a given. For those who stay home and critique consider this:

    Theodore Roosevelt said these words. Some of us attend city meetings because many don’t. Viewers may see something they do not agree with but unlike many, we show up to express the pent up frustrations. We have no respect for you unless you go to a Council meeting and speak your truth to power.

    Standing up for our rights is not an easy thing to do. It is also very gratifying when you can change government policy by showing up and using your brains and voice.

  7. LJL, the code enforcer charged me at a hearing where the city attorney was present. It’s a city employee, calling 911 didn’t occur to me. I tried 4 times making a personnel complaint. There comes a time when one must become their own security. Yes, my comments are public but I didn’t directly threaten someone. Hopefully, the council got the message and will investigate.

  8. I visited afterwards with Sierra. She comes across radical but is tame in person. She’s active nationally. She’s a ragin cajun hard for us to accept at first. It wouldn’t take much for police to cruise through motels. The alternative is guardian angel berets along street frontage that wouldn’t look good for the city’s reputation and the motel’s business.

  10. Thankyou cameraman Bruce for what you do. I read the article about Sierra Brousard. Wasn’t aware of it but doesn’t affect my opinion regarding what she’s presented in public comment to the council. This city has a lot of growing up to do. It’s a big change from small town to burgeoning metropolis.

I would first start out saying my sexual orientation and transgenderism has nothing to do with community activist work.I have had numerous of training such as rebuilting communities with local lawenforcement ,trained local police departments throughout varies states on judgement under the radar,unconscious biasness,racial profiling ,and GLBT issues.I also had a LLC business as a civil right advocate.The point im getting at is when there are numerous call for service at motels ontop of health violation and fire and safety its time to do something.If the police department doesnt do anything then council is the people to go to.I dont want my taxes to go to police calls at 1 motel that the service of police calls is 1 call a day every had for a whole yr.They dont come one police to a call its usually 2,3,4 to a call. We have gang members in these motels as well,we dont want the projects here.If nothing gets done about these issue motels and hotels will become the projects and the volume of police calls will go up more then it is now.Motels and Hotels are human trafficking and prostitution trained,allowing this to go on in the motels and hotels has to stop.This is just one thing happening in the city that needs to be addressed.So far i am seeing results from council members with these situations.Its not easy but we seeing progress.I have been threatened by law enforcement to on what im sayong at the public hearings ,they threatening to put charges on me and im ready to have my day in court.I have attorneys just like the city does.Im not giving up on issues that needs to be addressed .Its not fair for city government to brush this under the rug so to speak .We have issues in the city and needs to be taken care of .Having beautiful flower beds in parks and by street corners dont resolve these issues.
