matchepoint(Image, KSFY)

While Director of Parking and TIF’s, Darrin Smithe was being interviewed by KSFY about the Banks Project, he conducted the interview in fronte of the tennis centere. I was surprised there were vehicles parked in their parking lot and people actually using the facility. I wonder if Darrin broke his rackete again after another failed matche against his boss?

  1. Isn’t it amazing how there’s plenty of parking at the tennis center but poor planning at the airport and Denny Dome. I suggest paying Darrin Smith to stay home. Everything he’s involved with is a disaster and drain on the city budget. Cheaper by far to keep him on house arrest.

  2. Perhaps the tennis center was bought and repurposed as overflow parking for the airport. It’s Hueher style. Fund a private sports folly but also sell it later to the city for an inflated price. CaChing, double CaChing.

  3. I was present at the Sanford Complex this weekend. The fieldhouse had a soccer tournament, the Pentagon had a basketball tournament, and the iceplex had games/practices scheduled nonstop all weekend. This, of course, meant the parking lots were bustling, however in the tennis centre with eight cars present, it has a lovely sign that says you will be towed if you utilize the parking lot. How encompassing this organization, or whatever it is, to the public when their parking is virtually unused 90% of the time. I understand making sure you have adequate parking for your members, of which you put up a dozen individualized parking signs identifying tennis parking, but unless there is a tournament, which I googled and there are a total of two days scheduled so far this winter, why be an ass? I understand putting the sign up when you do indeed have a tournament, but other than that, I never see a sign such as this at the fieldhouse, the iceplex, or the pentagon unless the Skyforce is playing. One more thing to make this building, these people, this organization make themselves look like they are not about the community, yet they received taxpayer dollars.

  4. Karma is complaining about special interest sports groups receiving tax dollars.

Now that’s one for the books!

  5. My point is their stand was they were going to be all encompassing to the community. These signs lead you to something different – specifically when there is never more than 10 cars in the parking lot 95% of the time. Make sure you read more than the last line, taxpayer.
