bid-tax

“Just a few things the mayor wants to spend hotel tax on.”

As I have often said, if the Status Quo is working, you don’t need to fix it. In some bizarro world where Huether lives he seems to think people are mis-spending money if he can’t have it. Makes you wonder how bad of financial shape the city is in if he needs to get his hands on a portion of the $2.9 million.

  1. MMM has the 2 lists of so called “popular and proven agenda items” behind him as “proof and propaganda” that he needs to get his hands on more funds to give us more things we are going to “support and like”. (I refer you to the Obama phones sales ploy offered for votes.) Both are/were a con-job of salesmanship.

He needs no more funds to spend under his discretion. We are in enough debt thanks to him!

  2. On word here says it all about the “proven” investments and why wants to put his hands on this money. That word?

    TENNIS

  3. “seems to think people are mis-spending money if he can’t have it” holy shit, he’s definitely a democrat!!!!

  4. It seems obvious the city is struggling to pay the bills. City finance must be in trouble with cash flow if there’s so much attention for incidentals. We’re there not a major problem they would have immediately reported for the Argus lawsuit. There seems to be a lot of borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. Uh, isn’t this characteristically a Ponzi Scheme?

  5. The city has a 330 million annual budget and a population of 160k. How is it possible to spend it all and need more? Don’t let them in when they come to search for pennies under the cushions in your sofa? It was a mistake giving teen Mike our credit card. He bought games like tennis and EC instead of priorities like infrastructure.

  6. Look again at the 2 lists provided by mayor. How many of these are really Sioux Falls or profitable for Sioux Falls? As we research the mayor’s list we find some interesting priorities and personal connections. As Deep Throat said during Watergate “Follow the money”. The administration needs the money and they are grabbing anything they can find.

We already know about the Mothpoint Tennis Center and it’s issues.

Now consider Lifelight. It is near Worthing and brings in very few people to Sioux Falls. It takes a great many people out of Sioux Falls during the shows. It is a private entertainment venue with a questionable audit path.

Sioux Empire Fair is a Minnehaha County venue we support it but does not bring in people from out of the metro area. The city does everything to close it down in the past so they could usurp the property for other development (rumors we have heard based on some things that happened a few years ago) but Lyons family stopped it.

Hot Harley Night is a J&L Harley event to sell Harley Davidson parts and beer with a small contribution to a charity.

Look at the City venues having audit problems or questions about operations. The Mayor has the power to release the audit data and / or force the venue to follow the recommendations of the auditor. The administration chooses not to both.

We love Jazzfest but how many of the attendees actually stay overnight or even go into town to buy a meal? Gasoline? How many out of towners actually went to the mall? All they give us is some sales tax revenue.

How did swimming get on this list? We don’t even have an open Spellerberg pool yet bringing in all the thousands of promised visitors. Oh that’s right, the pool is under construction and is intended to be used by the Snowfox team. So the city is already getting benefits from a pool not yet completed, a bit strange? Oh and by the way, when will we be hearing about the big hidden change order the administration ordered?

We have already seen how little real economic impact the EC has had. Unless you count Badlands Pawn being across the street to supply money for the tickets being sold what else is out there?

You research the list there is more and it is looking very interesting. This is why we are fighting to keep the agendas very public.

  7. I noted ^
Lifelight was near my guest gun range when I lived in SF,kinda stretching to
    say that is in SF.
25 to 30 min out of town at the most or least.
2016 and I have less tolerance for assclowns and shenanigans than before.
This is not the arena to air my personal grievances.

Nothing personal but good gosh Dan Daily I am running
out of the stomach to resist/fathom your vituperation.
    TAKE A BREAK

  8. Badlands pawn is bizarre. In the future, it and the EC will be embarrassing landmark failures the city will become known for.

  9. I’m hoping the same EC type siding is used for the aquatics center. When it falls off, kids can use it for sled hill (adjoining).

  10. if life light books all the hotel rooms, why do they need tax money? and will the city also fund jihadfest?

  11. Lifelight and HHH bring the people to the hotels, the city takes the tax and lifelight or HHH don’t charge an entrance fee. What part of that don’t you get.

Jazzfest is funded by corporate donations.
