Rex Rolfing can be entertaining and aggravating. You choose. Our Council Chair in waiting often complains about men wearing hats and weird jokes but he is Rex after all. At the end of one of best, most engaging Council meetings we have ever witnessed, Rex had some new business to discuss with the room and city.

We never know what is going to spill out of Rex and he didn’t disappoint. Good thing we had our big kid clothes on or we would all have been paddled. Ah, we won’t go there…. Anyway…

After a night of some Council missteps, disappointments and respectful public input, our councilman Rex decided he had had enough and began to chew the audience out for calling the dais members to task on this chilly in in the chamber, January 19, 2016.

  1. It might help if the Council would respond to the public’s “Public Input” comments more often. Instead, they appear to just go through the motions with the whole reality absence of any classical Norman Rockwell New England Town hall free speech moment of interaction.

I understand and appreciate some of Councilman Rolfing’s frustrations, but there needs to be more public interaction with the public to put the unjust criticisms towards our public servants to rest once and for all, when they happen.

Democracy is a two way street. It requires interaction. Imagine a tennis match where the tennis ball was served but never returned… It would not be a match, but merely a smack down and who wants to watch that or be a part of such a thing?

  2. I suggest a backstop type fence between the council and the public. It will block tomatoes and beer bottles from damaging the expensive wood at the front of the room. I respect Rex’s son for his sacrifice. However, Rex represents an authoritarian oligarchy that is far from representing democracy. Our nation is government of, by, and for the people. City officials have installed a sovereign state within a free society. The false arrests, civil rights court cases, and half a billion in debt is embarrassing proof.

  3. REX, I know for a fact that you don’t do your homework. I caught you in the act when i asked you about a agenda item in our district only 1 day before it was on the agenda. You said, “I don’t know anything about that”. Yo got pissed when I asked if you were awake during the meetings.

I don’t remember anyone using your sons death against you. Your pulling a victim card and that.

    Your a dud REX.
