Kermit told me this afternoon that he will not be seeking a second term. His health and well being is taking precedent. I wish him the best in his (brief?) retirement from SD politics, he will truly be missed.

  1. I agree with Kermit. There’s corruption that can’t be corrected and citizens go along with it. Time to find comfort in your later life and let the system fail.

  2. I voted for K. 2 elections ago.
Now we (you I no longer do SF) are saddled with the debt pirate
for a while more hinky deals galore being dreamt up he is in the payoff stage (Y)OUR MMM.

Ya’ll know my stance on dat dere company.
I don’t wish to think of their vile greedy despoiling agenda any longer.

  3. Kermit was on the council for over 12 years. Other than voting no for everything… what did he do?

  4. Ah, another person who believes the rants of Mr. Lalley and the Dr. No term. As I have pointed out to Lalley several times, if no one liked Kermit, why does he keep getting re-elected? When he beat Quen Be De into submission she spent almost 5x the money he did. As for the ‘No’ record, I bet if you took Kermit’s voting record, you will see he probably voted that way about 1% of the time. The only reason people think it is significant is because it is on big issues.

I don’t think snowgates would have ever got tested or the EC built without a tax increase if it wasn’t for Kermit. Two ideas that Huether scooped right out of Kermit’s lap.

  5. I appreciate the efforts Dr. Staggers made to always look at both sides of an issue instead of joining the political group-think cliques that always seem to form in hopes of gaining favor with whatever Mayor was in office.

Those council members would dismiss ideas just because of the person they were coming from when sadly, he is the person they should have been trying to emulate because in my opinion Dr. Staggers has put forth the most effort to represent the wishes of the citizens who elected him into office and balance what’s best for the City.

I thank him for his service to our city and hope that two people just like him get elected to the council. I would enjoy watching Huether have twice the temper tantrums.

  6. Thank you for serving, Kermit Staggers, even though I did not always agree with your votes. I think it was cool you brought your students to council meetings.

  7. Separated and retired from city politics he’ll be a valuable hostile witness at Huether’s federal court racketeering trial.

  8. Kermit Staggers is a great public servant and I thank him for his many years of public service. Dr. Staggers served in our nation’s military and in the state legislature in addition to his years on the city council. He has helped shape countless lives in the classroom. Dr. Staggers truly has the heart of a teacher.

Well done, Dr. Staggers and best wishes for your retirement from public service.

  9. Did he not wear leather jackets?
    HAHAHAHAHA take that peta/vegans

  10. I am sorry to hear Kermit won’t be running again. Now there will be no one looking out for the citizens of Sioux Falls. Best wishes Dr. Staggers.

  11. A couple years ago some friends of mine at the SFPD were told by their superiors that if Kermit were elected Mayor, he was going to cut all kinds of PD budgets. I personally asked Kermit the validity of that. He told me that it wasn’t true, he never said such a thing. This shows me the fear the Gastapo of the SFPD will put in their boots on the ground to keep their positions. God Speed Kermit.
