Youngest city council candidate says what we have been screaming for years!

Leave it to the bright eyed and bushy tailed to tell us what we have been saying all along;

“We need to invite the citizens into the City Council and make sure that their voice is actually listened to. If you go to a meeting right now, you’ll see that they’re completely disinterested in what we have to say,” Warren said. “That needs to change and that’s something that I will change.”

YES IT DOES. But it takes more then a campaign slogan, it takes petition drives, following officials with cameras and infiltrating yourself into city government proceedings as some of your competitors have.

As I have told others and council candidate Jacob Johnson tonight, we have a very good crop of candidates this time around. Though I have my favorites, I do think there are several that would do a great job if elected, even Mr. Briggs. But it not only takes courage but it takes experience and knowledge, and I want my next crop of city councilors to avoid a learning curve.

Race car driver screws native Americans in payday lending scam

I know, sounds like an ‘Onion‘ headline;

Tucker is a 53-year-old financier who races Ferraris in professional competitions. He was arrested on Wednesday, accused of running an illegal $2 billion payday lending enterprise and hit with federal RICO charges.

From 1997 until 2013, Tucker operated payday lending companies that gave 4.5 million Americans short-term, high-interest loans under “deceitful” circumstances, according to a federal indictment filed in New York City and unsealed Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Tucker cut secret deals with a Native American tribe to make it seem like the tribe owned his companies, shielding him from state lawsuits and regulators.

UPDATE: SuFuStu shuts off chat(?) during his interview of SOS Krebs

UPDATE: After watching the beginning of this interview, and seeing how it was back up against the sports show, and how quickly Shantel was sweeped in, it would seem to me this was a pre-recorded show, and that is why the live chat was not used. Not sure if that is true, but if it is, what’s the point in lying about it? Why not just say it was pre-recorded? Weird.

During the beginning of the interview, they claimed it was a ‘technical’ issue, yet neither host had an electronic device in their hands. Not saying this was on purpose since it has happened before, but seems strange that you have a state constitutional officer as a guest and there is NO online chat, or an attempt to get it to work.

Hmmm.

I had a question for Shantel;

Why are there still issues with the voting lists?

I also was skeptical of her comment about Jason Gant during wordplay. She said when asked ‘Jason Gant’

Unaware.

Oh, I think he was well aware of what he was doing, and to give him a pass for being ignorant or just stupid isn’t fair to SD taxpayers and voters. I’m not calling him a genius, but I am not expecting him to have integrity either.

I think the SD GOP including Krebs dropped the ball on Gant, and a public shaming on Stormland-TV doesn’t cut the mustard for the due punishment he deserved.

Board of Puppets up for grabs

Can the mayor find anymore brown nosers?

Mayor Mike Huether has announced two upcoming vacancies to the Board of Ethics.

The Board of Ethics initiates, receives, hears, and/or investigates complaints and renders advisory opinions or interpretations with respect to the application of ethics ordinances and Charter provisions of the City of Sioux Falls.

The Board is composed of five members who are appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council. Each member serves a four-year term. The Board holds quarterly meetings, but additional meetings may be necessary if complaints or requests for advisory opinions are filed with the Board.

Interested persons should have a strong commitment to public service and possess balanced judgment, integrity, and professional training or experience that would ensure the ability to deal with complex and sensitive ethics issues.

Integrity, like when the mayor could not walk 100 feet to defend himself?
